Alphaville was incredible. I liked Breathless a lot but this was absolutely masterful. Any other Godard that should go to the top of the list?
Also watched High Life. Pretty solid. Stunningly gorgeous, veeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow burn to start and kind of an abrupt ending but I liked it.

Also watched Velvet Buzzsaw. I know this thread was mixed on it but I really dug it. The aesthetic was great, Jake G was great and that one scene with the sphere was awesome. You know the one.

VELVET BUZZSAW felt like a trashy 80s movie that flew under the radar but was newly discovered 20 years later and put out on Scream Factory.

I just watched The Changeling and have one question. At the end the senator dies in his office after he "spiritually" goes up to the attic room and is essentially killed by the house. It shows him collapse in his office as the two leads escape the burning house. When the authorities arrive, they remove a body from the rubble and I just can’t for the life of me figure out who that is. I was kinda hoping it’d be revealed to be George C Scatt’s character thus starting a new cycle of haunting or whatever. help Movie totally ruled though and the influence it had on flicks like Stir of Echoes, Ringu, etc is pretty obvious. Check it out!

Okay just watched three more Rob Zombie films so heres my list of best to worst.. 1.Lords Of Salem 2.The Devils Rejects 3.31 4.House Of 1.000 Corpses 5.Halloween
He also made some cartoon movie about a comic book he made The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto. It's rather odd to say the least. It feels like Freakazoid mashed with renn and stimpy with a little power puff girls maybe some beavis and butthead.

finished all of Edward Yang's films. Liked them all except A Confucian Confusion. maybe if I saw it in high quality it'd be better, idk. Starting on Hou Hsiao Hsien now. Starting with "The Time to Live and the Time to Die" because its on prime. some of his films are super hard to come by on dvd or blu ray though. some dont even have bluray. criterion or another company needs to get on it.

Brighter Summer Day, YiYi, and Taipei Story should all be on the criterion channel. Those 4 are the essential Yang.

Much better, much more creative than his Halloween. He does so much different stuff in there, and takes so many chances. Its polarizing, but those of us who like it really push for it.

no way. LoS rules too. I know I'm a RZ fan through and through, but LoS is an I.talian horror film and the same logic you watch a Fulci film thru you have to bring to this one also. And some Ken Russell images thrown in. Its easily his most ambitious, and where he tried to stray from his usual dirty psychos movies.

I thought it was his most stylish effort, but LoS didn't have the substance to match the style. I'd still take it over 31 or 3 From Hell. I really hated 31.

I thought Lords of Salem was awful. Really enjoyed the style of his Halloween remakes, but they were definitely style over substance. Devils Rejects is still my favourite of the lot.

Hard Candy was a hell of a watch. It's one of the best examples of a movie carried on the back of just two extremely well written characters and that makes me very happy to see in an age of ridiculous blockbusters.

The Sunset Limited w/ Samuel L. and Tommy Lee Jones was a terrific example of this too.

The Laundromat is at the bottom of the Soderbergh barrel, Meryl Streep really channeled her inner Al Jolson going brownface. Even the attempt to justify it, I felt that Soderbergh was doing a jerk off motion behind the camera when he filmed the final scene. Diet Adam McKay shit.

^ thats a bummer. When Soderbergh doesnt have it on project, it can get bad. There's a few, nay, couple of his that I just can not take.
