I watched The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover for the first time. A perfect film to watch on this so-called holiday. Michael Gambon is such a vile piece of shit and Helen Mirren fucking owned it. While it got tedious to see Gambon treat Mirren's character like shit, the ending was so worth it.

Love Greenaway. The only nut that compares to Ken Russell.

An hour into the Irishman, it’s so good. Scorsese is the GOAT

I hadn't looked into The Irishman much, because 'Scorsese is directing Pesci, Deniro and Pacino' is more than enough to ensure I'll love it, but I'm looking at the cast on IMDB and god damn. Anna Paquin, Harvey Kietel, Bobby Cannavale, Fatt Damon, Stephen Graham. Cannot wait to watch this weekend.

Queen and Slim was pretty good. It had plenty of opportunities to explore some certain themes, but it never really goes there.

Ken Loach kick.
I, Daniel Blake was great. Winds That Shake the Barley tonight.
Also in a Beatty mood. Have any of y'all seen Bulworth?
Absolutely insane movie but extremely relevant. The song Ghetto Superstar was created for it. Totally forgotten classic.

Bulworth is wild. I love when he thinks he's eating "grandma's collard greens" and she's like "it's kale!"

A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood was too much preciousness for me but Heller does some nice tricks to keep it moving.
Knives Out is good. Saw it twice. Only Rian Johnson movie I’ve liked so far and I say that not to get into his filmography but to show how much this one works. It’s literally begging you to come out and let it entertain you and give you a rollicking good time...and it does. I thought Daniel Craig and his accent thing would get on my nerves but he actually plays it so good and he’s very funny and charming.

Parasite should get a Best Picture nom and quite possibly win (It won't but maybe should)

Parasite was my favorites of the year easily.
Saw Knives Out last night. Tons of fun. Loved Daniel Craig.

those 3 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be top 4. 1917 is in too and will get a lot of tech noms. Nominations will be interesting this year.
NBR, NYFCC and LA Critics Awards are all next week, followed by Globe noms next Monday the 9th

I legit think Parasite will win best picture. I really hope so, and I hope Bong Joon-Ho gets best director. But it’ll probably be Irishman and Scorsese
