Knives Out is such an improvement over anything Johnson's ever made. It felt like anyone could have made it, really, and thats a good thing. I'm starving to see more Ana De Armas, including a reunion with Craig in the next Bond, where she looks simply stunning.
This next Bond is one I'm really looking forward to. Fukunaga directoring and Rami Malek as the villain. Ok. On top of the screenplay being punched up by the creator/writer of Killing Eve...
Yeah everything about this Bond is a wet dream. Cannot wait.

Anyone ever see Detour? Boyyyyy that is a movie and Ann Savage's character was one of the most menacing I've ever seen. I felt the daggers she stared in my soul man.

Watched Little Children last night for the first time in a long time with the wife. It's a crime that Todd Field hasn't made a movie since.

I havn't cared about a bond film since GoldenEye.God I love that movie. The one with Javier Bardem as the bad guy was good. I grew up loving James Bond. I rewatch the old movies and I find it amazing how they are a time capsule for the locations. You only live twice is a goofy and problematic movie, but I love the shots of 60’s Tokyo, the ninja temple, etc.

Marriage Story is really good. Maybe not the masterpiece some have championed it, as a whole, but its rather a great vehicle for the actors while still having substantial thematic moments. Adam Driver gives one of the best acting performances this decade. He hits every range of human emotion and he's subtle when you think he's going to burst and that restraint is so perfect. But also when he lets it out, it out. Johansson is of course great too in the back and forths.

Did anyone see any advertisement for In Fabric? It's a shame that A24 didn't really promote it cause I really enjoyed it.

Netflix added Atlantics, which got attention at Cannes this year for being the first film directed by a black woman to screen at the fest. I wen't into it nothing knowing much about it and it was pretty fucking incredible.

Just re-watched Light of My Life. Perfect film, and i love how intense the third act is. Maybe the single most realistic and anxiety inducing fight scene i've ever seen. Pretty much every movie Casey Affleck does is great. Guy chooses his roles more wisely than most.

Marriage Story is VERY good. Not everyone will love it, but the directing and performances are SUPERB
And finally, Noah Baumbach has a film with an actual ending.

Only few things I was surprised about was no De Niro...but the HFPA LOVES Christian Bale, so. I don't think Bale gets in at SAG Wednesday. And no Lupita Nyongo, since she had a VERY strong week with LA, NY, and BFCA.
No Baumbach in directing. But anything that makes it easier for Tarantino to win, I'm all for.
I knew they'd go for Joker. The Globe categories allowed for Knives Out to flourish and gain some traction going forward.

What's your take on them babying the child too much? Felt like a theme was there until it wen't unresolved, but could have just been my imagination... Like, the co-sleeping gets mentioned
He's 8 years old and rides in a booster seat
They're constantly picking him up and carrying him around
He can't fucking read, which could be a personal issue for him but I don't remember it being referenced
I'm no expert but pretty sure this is not how most third graders live their lives
