Becky was OK, but you could just watch Green Room again instead Or The Aggression Scale. Or Home Alone.

Even then, Green Room had such a tissue thin premise that the whole movie wouldn't have happened if they'd just agreed to not play a nazi club.

As a die hard Terminator and T2 fan, I can honestly say I’ve never seen any of the movies that followed.
i haven't seen the 3rd but for what i know is terrible. salvation were lame, the other 2 were good. obviously the first two movies are the best.
Third one was okay. It's like a big b movie. Which I find interesting because in my eyes the first Terminator is just that a well executed b movie.

For what it was Dark Fate was flawed but enjoyable and if it wasn't a Terminator movie I'd have liked it more probably. 3 only has one redeemable quality.

Terminator is a B movie concept done well.T2 was a higher budget well done action film and was strong on the cheese.T3 was a junk b movie with Arnold. The only things holding this series from complete obscurity is Arnold, Linda Hamilton, and Michael Biehn.

I liked the Terminator with Christian Bale quite a bit. Can't remember what it was called.

Even then, Green Room had such a tissue thin premise that the whole movie wouldn't have happened if they'd just agreed to not play a nazi club. Couldn't you say that about ANY movie? Star Wars wouldn't have happened if Uncle Owen bought that first droid he wanted instead of R2 Rocky wouldn't have happened if Apollo didn't come up with the insane promotional stunt of letting any mook in Philly take a run at him. Raiders of the Lost Ark wouldn't have happened if Indy was more dedicated to staying at school and grading his students' papers. Besides, the kids in Green Room were given credible motivation to play the show: they lost money on the show that was a bust and couldn't afford to get home; they were misled on the true nature of the neonazi compound before they got there; even after learning they wanted to stick it to those muchachos by showing they weren't down with that ethos during their set, which is an understandable reaction by a young intense punk band.

I live right next to a AMC that's always hopping so I was hoping they'd have a few showings this week, but it's still "temporarily closed". What I wouldn't give to order a $10 Lagunitas, plop down in a seat and take in just about literally anything.

Man same. We have a cool independent theater just a few blocks away that plays a lot of cool older stuff sometimes.

AMC mentioned they probably won't be able to reopen at all if theaters aren't allowed to be open in the summer. That doesn't seem likely for states like CA and NY. There is a rumor that Amazon may buy out AMC, but NATO is still acting iffy regarding releasing titles that come out on streaming services less than 90 days after being in theaters. NATO is gonna have to throw in the towel.
Edit: CA just announced they are reopening theaters this weekend, but only allowing 25% capacity

Watched Pressure Point again last night. Such an excellent movie. 1962 drama with Sidney Poitier and Bobby Darin about a prison psychiatrist who tries to help a nazi youth who's having panic attacks. This film has that great '60s experimental style of filmmaking that was more prominent in the mid and late '60s. Lots of avant garde dream sequences and flashbacks. Lots of crazy camera angles and creative effects. The whole thing has a very Twilight Zone feel to it. The bar scene where Darin and his nazi friends tic-tac-toe every inch of a bar with paint is unforgettable. Must see movie.

Other than some of the dialogue going over my head, Hard Day’s Night is such a charming fun movie. The TMC section on HBO Max is scratching my fix for old school stuff. It’s basically criterion light haha

I mean, if you want to be pedantic for the sake of it, yeah. I'd understand if they were mislead, but they weren't really. They were told what they were getting into. I liked the movie, but its setup is not one of its strong suits. I didn't care that much for Blue Ruin, but it was more believable from the get go.

My fiance took most of the last week off of our weekly movie nights, but we jumped back in this week with my Subtitle Sunday choice being Rashomon and her Monday pick being Paris Texas.
Rashomon was gorgeously shot and I 100% understand it's importance for non linear storytelling and unreliable narrarators, but this being only my 2nd Kurosawa flick, I enjoyed Seven Samurai a bit more.
Paris Texas had lowkey some of my favorite lighting in a movie I've seen since Suspiria. Harry Dean Stanton is just the best.

SEVEN MEN FROM NOW (Budd Boetticher, 1956 [western]) And I thought Budd Boetticher was just going to make a simple revenge movie... An hour and 18 minutes of pure tension from a master filmmaker pulling the strings. Mysterious and there’s smartly executed misdirections everywhere. its one of those where everyone talks around the thing to leave us in doubt. This aspect is where LEE MARVIN shines. Knowing his filmography, we aren't sure what side he's on, or even if he's on a side. and if he isn't, we don't know where he will ultimately end up. Throughout this film, as soon as he appears on screen, we know he's capable of doing both bad things and being on the side of good, and he plays with this throughout the movie. It may be my favorite performance of his. Watched this last night and loved it. Spot-on about Lee Marvin's moral ambivalence.

I use a PS3 for apps and stuff and support for that ended last year. I just need to get a smart TV or something. Looks like they’re doing a matinee of 12 Angry Men on Saturday but I gotta work : /

The Vast of Night was great.

I agree about clerks 2( I saw it in he theater shit was fun) and comedy sequels like that because even if your working with the same team from the original they have all had 10 plus years to mature and grow distant from what they and their ideas were.
