They were definitely misled. Sucks for you I guess. We'll have to disagree then. It's not the 90's anymore, but when I hear "right wing" and "skinheads" in the same sentence I'm probably still going to raise an eyebrow. Not saying everything after that wasn't executed well. Hoping for the best with the Bill and Ted sequel, but I have to admit it's weird seeing an older Keanu delivering these lines.

Just watched The Watermelon Woman, quite funny and very insightful. It's one of the free titles The Criterion Channel is showing without a subscription.

Watched Pressure Point again last night. Such an excellent movie. 1962 drama with Sidney Poitier and Bobby Darin about a prison psychiatrist who tries to help a nazi youth who's having panic attacks. This film has that great '60s experimental style of filmmaking that was more prominent in the mid and late '60s. Lots of avant garde dream sequences and flashbacks. Lots of crazy camera angles and creative effects. The whole thing has a very Twilight Zone feel to it. The bar scene where Darin and his nazi friends tic-tac-toe every inch of a bar with paint is unforgettable. Must see movie. Definitely checking this out. Thanks for the recommendation

12 angry men is so good. A friend pointed out that John Fielder, who voiced Piglet in the original Winnie the Pooh, is one of the jurors and I’ve never been able to unhear it.

how would y'all rank your favorite Kubrick films? I feel like they're all so good and that any ranking is valid. Here's mine:
1. 2001: A Space Odyssey 2. The Shining 3. A Clockwork Orange 4. Eyes Wide Shut 5. Doctor Strangelove 6. Barry Lyndon 7. Full Metal Jacket 8. Lolita
I need to rewatch Paths of Glory and watch his other early films.

The Vast of Night was great. Loved all the long, drawn out shots and dialogue. Holy shit I absolutely loved this. So much. A mix of Twilight Zone/Stranger things with snappy, quick dialogue and fantastic camera work. I'd watch it again tonight.

Never been able to get all the way through Eyes Wide Shut and A Clockwork Orange. I think I’ve watched a third of Paths of Glory too.

1. The Shining 2. 2001 3. Eyes Wide Shut 4. Clockwork Orange 5. Full Metal Jacket 6. Dr Strangelove 7. Spartacus 8. Lolita
1 and 2 are concrete for me. 3-6 could be shuffled based on the day of the week. 7 and 8 are the only ones that aren't at least a 9/10 for me. I have yet to see Paths of Glory or Barry Lyndon.

V for Vendetta still holds up and I'd argue even more than ever with whats going on in the world. Deadly virus killing people by the thousands, right wing leader rising to power, shit even a civilian getting killed by the police that causes riots. yeah I know it spawned the "we live in a society" types before Joker but give it a watch

I know Kubrick has a lot of great films, but how Dr Strangelove isn’t anyone else’s favorite on here is crazy to me. To each their own, though. For what it’s worth, I am partial to war movies, especially Vietnam and Cold War era.

Ghostbusters II gets a raw deal, it's pretty good. I may only be saying that because I recently watched GB '16 and say no more.

Yeah, The Killing has been on my list for awhiiille. I also def need to get on that.
I watched a bentenn flick last night, EYEWITNESS (1981). It's essentially a whodunnit thriller set in sleezy early 80s Big Apple and chock full of now legendary performers (this cast is stacked). It's clearly an homage to Hitchcock thrillers such as Notorious or North By Northwest and occasionally borderlines on the absurd but all around a fun flick and worth a viewing just for the setting and all those fresh young faces (I'm looking at you, Sigourney).

My local movie theater is doing theater rentals for groups of 10 for $100/ hr (so roughly $20 per person for a 2 hour movie). You can pick pretty much any movie you want. It’s a 50ft curved screen. Trying to get a group together. What movie would y’all wanna see if you were able to do this?

I wen't to Raiders of the Lost Ark on one of those fathom events with a bunch of friends and we had a blast. also took a couple of buddies to see The Seven Samurai at the AFI theater in MD. great experience as well.

I still haven't seen Total Recall on the big screen, so I'm gonna go with that.

There are definitely classics I'd want to see on the big screen, but my heart says The Revenant. Only got to see it once in theaters, which is a shame. I'd make sure to experience it my perfect way, too.

Man Total Recall on the big screen would rule. I’d probably have to go with “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” or “The Thing”

yeah I was definitely thinking something classic that I’ve never seen on the big screen. I’ve seen a bunch of the ones recommended so far. I’ve never seen Predator on the big screen and it’s one of my favorite action movies ever, but I’d also have to convince 9 other people haha. The coordinating is going to be the hardest part.
