Was gonna hit up a High On Fire gig tonight after work but turns out that shit is sold out. So I’m gonna finally take in Akira Kurosawa’s 1985 epic Ran with a 12er of Modelo as a consolation prize

Probably depends on strain. Eaten a 50mg jolly rancher that has fucked me up, but also had experiences where a 50mg rice krispy treat didn't do shit.

If stored properly, they could last at least 2 years

I thought World’s Fair was an absolute slog and the trailer for this didn’t seem all that different so I’m gonna pass on it. I think I’m just too old and not the audience for it cause I know tons of people love her work.

Also watched The Apartment for the first time over the weekend and it was a delight. I might need to make it a staple around Christmas time moving forward

Never finished Battle Royale, but I watched over the weekend due to the thread. Shit rocked and was way better than i remembered.
I read the book ~15 years ago and it definitely helps flesh out certain parts of the movie. Blows Hunger Games out of the water.

He had this look of anguish and pain on his face during the scene where his arm gets all cut up that it made me uncomfortable and light headed the first time I watched it. Gunna watch the documentary this week and emotionally destroy myself.

Rewatched 'The Brave Little Toaster' (1987) for podcast and it's wild how influential this movie was on 'Toy Story' (1995) and Pixar as a whole. (and as a result everything animated after haha.) Lasseter was initially trying to turn it into a movie for Disney then they fired him shortly after his pitch. Then Disney kneecapped the movie's theatrical release because they'd look bad if it did well? & it still isn't available to stream, rent, buy online. (It's here though if any of you have interest in watching it: archive.org/details/youtube-iAaabmic2pw ) Unless I'm missing something? This was the first major American movie to feature anthropomorphic devices as the characters. It also was the first animated feature to play at Sundance (and was the only one up until 2001 with 'Waking Life'.) edit- I should include that I don't think it's a *good* movie (but it walked so everything could run typa thing.)

Go with Monkey Man
Boy Kills World is not good. Casting Brett Gelman is an automatic red flag
Challengers is pretty good too

Go with Monkey Man Boy Kills World is not good. Casting Brett Gelman is an automatic red flag Challengers is pretty good too Saw Boy Kills World last night and holy jesus mother of fuck I hated it. Second movie in my life I've walked out of. The fight choreography and gore was so dope, and the characters were appropriately cartoonish which I think worked for the vibe but: 1) The CONSTANT fucking voiceover/narration holy fuck what are you thinking? That's a horrendous, horrendous way to get all the dialogue from the main character and it completely takes you out of things. I do wanna be clear that it wasn't H. Jon Benjamin's fault, but it doesn't help that for most of us that voice is Archer and why is Archer in a live-action movie? It doesn't work. 2) I think my strongest film apinion at this point is that the Deadpoolization of action movies is an absolute fucking cancer and it needs to be eradicated like God damn small pox. That kind of snark -- I won't call it humor, because it isn't -- can work really well in small doses and it worked for Deadpool because it was novel 15 years ago in a superhero movie setting. It does not work anywhere fucking else and it sure as shit doesn't work when your entire movie is just a Gatling gun of voiceover snark. This is just a full movie made for people with mustache finger tattoos. Also I don't despise him like some in here but why would you get Brett Gelman when Peter Stromare exists?

How does Monkey Man stack up to Nobody because I really didn’t like that one at all. I’d just rather watch John Wick.
