Civil War was good, certainly a step up from Men from Garland.

New Apes was alright. I’d say on par with Rise. I definitely thought Proximus could’ve had more screen time

Just finished Challengers. Thought it was good, but that score fucking slaps. It did so much for the film.

Civil War was good, certainly a step up from Men from Garland. I just watched Men. I dunno, I think he doesn’t miss. Great use of the environment/setting. Certainly not a satisfying movie, but not meant to be. I liked Civil War more purely as a moviegoing experience, but had more issues with it.

Rewatched 'Full Metal Jacket'... and thought I'd finally watch 'Casualties of War' & 'Platoon'. The latter two have a lot in common but, man, Kubrick was really working on a totally different plane than anybody else. The final movie released during his lifetime :'(

The final movie released during his lifetime We will always be plagued with the thought of what Eyes Wide Shut would have been if he was alive for the final edit. I, for one, fucking love that movie so much but yeah the thought remains

Gonna watch the new Jim Henson documentary after the gym Pretty good with the bts of him at work with the muppeteers and the fact that the kids didnt hold back about his relationship with his wife. If you've read the Brian Jay Jones biography or watched the Defunctland series, there's not a lot of new info

I really really liked In a Violent Nature. I was totally on board from the start. I do need to sit with the last 20 mins and really let it sink in but that’s not a detriment by any means. That one kill is one for the books and won’t be topped for some time.
Also. Surprisingly funny movie. If you’ve seen it you know what I mean

I watched Maniac Cop 2 last night. It kinda lacked the creepy slasher moments of the first film, but its got some great over the top action setpieces, including the best police station massacre this side of the Terminator.

'Hundreds of Beavers' is the level of silliness/campiness I've been wanting for half a decade. Loved it.

Yeah that scene is a real standout. I'll never forgive them though for killing off Bruce Campbell and then making charisma blackhole Robert Davi the lead for 2 movies. He's perfectly fine as a utility player but he's not a lead.

Yes, that's really why I think 2 and 3 are inferior. The quality of cast declines greatly in 2 and 3. Besides Campbell in 1, you had Roundtree and Tom fucking Atkins man.

Real shocking that the kind of person who thinks a 2 1/2 hour movie is “far too fucking long” is also the kind of person that takes their socks off in a god damn movie theatre.
Nasty work.

Real hot take to think a 2.5 hour movie is too long man yeah I know. Shoeless criticism is valid though I'd just drank a monster

My serious take is runtime doesn’t matter, pacing does. Wolf of Wall Street or John Wick 3 are three hours and feel half of that, and conversely I’ve watched 80-minute movies that felt like six years in the Black Dolphin prison.

Yes and my serious take is that when alot of people see 2.5 hours as the runtime they're normally like "oh boy maybe not" because not everyone is a cinephile and some people just go to the movies for something to do

Are those people in the room with us right now?
This is a literal thread devoted to movies on the second iteration of a dead record label message board I think the expectation is most people can handle a fucking 2 1/2 hour movie. It’s not goddamn La Roue.
