Since I so often see movies during the day by myself, a lot of times I’ll just move. But there are some cases where a hard shush feels good.
Feel like I’ve told this story before, but wen't to see Hustlers the weekend it released at Regal in Union Square. Tbh, rarely have issues there, even for such a central/popular location.
Anyhoo, sold out show, large theater… 20 minutes in, these two women will not shut up. They talked through every trailer, and just kept the spirit of chatter well into the beginning. They’re talking at bar volume, loud as hell.
Quiet moment, some dude yells, “shut the fuck up!” to which one of the women responded, “you must have forgot where you was, this AMC.” and without missing a beat, dude shouts back “Bitch, this is a Regal!”
Whole theater lost it, the people around them started clowning instantly, and they straight got up, and did a long walk of shame out of there. Some folks throwing popcorn and shit, too,
Just a legendary, unforgettable experience.

Slowly going through this set and having a blast. Just watched The Dragon Lives Again and don’t think anything will top it. ''Bruce Lee''s soul travels to another dimension where he teams up with Popeye, Cain from the Kung Fu TV show and The One Armed Swordsman… to eventually fight James Bond, Dracula and The Man with No Name amongst countless other rip-offs. This is gold. Only movie I was familiar with before buying the set was Challenge of the Tiger which I remember features a topless tennis game so I'm definitely looking forward to that one. It's hot and muggy outside tonight and that has me in the mood for a re-watch of Blood Games

Going in as blind as possible for Longlegs because of the hype If possible, that's how I go in for any movie I'm remotely interested in... I don't want to see a trailer or even pictures. Already know more than I want to about Maxxxine just by reading this thread... I know I should have seen by now, hopefully catch it on the weekend.

I shushed a then girlfriend at a movie once. It didn't go well for me relationship-wise, but needed to let my fellow film goers know I'd run through a wall for them.

Hot Summer Nights is a perfect Sunday hang flick. Love this movie, great vibes, soundtrack, etc. Was looking forward to the director's next movie but we'll likely never see it because of Jonathan Majors' legal shit.

Gladiator 2 actually looks kinda tight I'd recommend everyone to only watch 20-30 seconds of that trailer because it literally shows one of the final scenes of the movie.

To be fair, it felt like 3 days had passed from when I started and ended killers of the flower moon so I can understand some people catching up on what new has happened in their lives during the middle of it.

So far I've gotten: Blue Velvet, Malcolm X, & The Rules Of The Game from the new B&N criterion sale.
Waiting on my preorders for Perfect Days & Risky Business :) Peeping Tom is sold out from the website. Hoping that changes before the sale ends haha.
(all in 4k uhd)

Still think Pearl is the strongest of the three with Maxxxine a fun second place.
Was very happy with The Bikeriders and glad I took a shot on it. Only one older dude in the theater and we both gave each other that "Hell yeah that ruled" look after.

Just recently watched Malcolm X for the first time. Not having done my research ahead of time -- I didn't realize that the Nation of Islam was essentially a cult.
Also, as good as he was, I felt like Denzel was almost distracting as the lead. Like he knew this was a vehicle for him.
And lastly -- I've seen a good handful of Spike Lee movies in the past couple years. Maybe I'm watching the wrong movies, but I'm not sure I understand why his work is criticized as anti-white. Or maybe that's just my own preconceptions. Either way, I always find that his work is incredibly nuanced.

Gladiator trailer dropped. I have super low expectations. Just have a feeling it's not gonna be good. Probably a good popcorn fun flick, but not one that will win awards.

Gladiator II has Ridley, the same cinematographer from I, Paul Mescal and Pedro Pescal as leads and we have no shortage of real Roman history to mine from so I’m shocked at how many people are down on it.
And I say that as somebody who doesn’t jerk off for the OG in the way many do.

Tried to see the Quiet Place prequel again tonight after last week’s debacle…. LOL.
Concession area was SWARMED with teenagers (and the only other movie showing this late was (weirdly) Despicable Me so I know they were here for AQP. Said ok, lemme say fuck concessions and just grab my ticket in the app.
Theater was 70% full. Movies (even shit like Dune, Mad Max and other stuff their first week of open) on Tuesday nights near me at the closest Regal theatre are typically like… 5% full.
So I just said fuck it and wen't out to grab a beer instead. Guess I’m not seeing this in theaters because now Maxxine is out and we’ve got Twisters, Longlegs, Romulus and some other shit coming out in the next month so I’m not gonna keep kicking the can down the road.
Sucks.

There's definitely a racist contingent of naysayers regarding the movie, I'm hoping of which doesn't translate to the box office. Avoiding the trailer because I wanna be surprised by the movie but I'll definitely be seeing opening weekend. I even liked 'Napoleon' a lot haha.
