Yeah, I think that works. He certainly looks really old in that one considering his age. I always think of George C Scatt falling into old age at a pretty young age. Like Peter O Was just about to make an Exorcist 3 post!

Don’t get me wrong, I love an empty theater. But this one just works out for a lot of people. A lot of nervous laughter and it’s okay when someone screams “oh fuck!” I want that energetic theater experience cuz I think the closest I’ve ever had is Avengers Endgame. Like when Captain America picked up the hammer, the crowd wen't oooooooooohhhhh. Then again, with something like The Substance around here, I dunno if even a packed theater would react on cue to the cool parts cuz they might not be the most…sophisticated moviegoers. I was taking to my boy about endgame tonight. Because I wen't opening night and the theater when I saw endgame was one of those high end cinebistro ones. Kick back leather recliners and shit. And it was just a bunch of dudes by themselves. Including myself. And we all freaked the fuck out when it was time to assemble.

The Substance is the most unforgettable movie I’ve seen in years, holy shit.
Style and vibe in abundance, body horror and practical effects that would give Cronenberg a rod and incredible performances from Qualley and Demi Moore, Demi especially. And that final scene? Unreal.
Some guy yelled ‘MAN WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT’ as the credits hit and I got a great LOL out of that.

This badboy just came in so I know what I'm doing tonight :) That movie rules. Slept on eighties movie for sure. I think it's popular amongst movie nerds, but doesn't really seem to be known outside of that which is a shame. Perhaps being an HBO production it never got wide distribution? I have no idea. Watched it again last night and it was fantastic, such a wild and unpredictable ride. Hauer is so damn menacing, I love when he says ''because I cut off his legs... and his arms... and his head... and I'm going to do the same to you'' just a perfect delivery that instantly sets the mood. I already feel like re-watching it. re: neo-westerns... can't believe I brought up Carpenter without mentioning Assault on Precinct 13, he has said many times the movie was based on Rio Bravo, probably the first thing I should have thought of. Come to think of it, They Live also fits the bill perfectly.

And both are movies that got remade in the 2000s, a time when horror remakes wen't into overdrive. I watch The Hitcher once a year at this point. The guy almost eating the finger when he's having fries just pops into my head occasionally its so disturbing

For me, tonally it’s kinda similar to a Stuart Gordon movie, but a step below. Talk about a movie that would alienate a general audience. Campy tone, but not super gaggy or funny, with disgusting effects.

Society was a documentary showing what goes on during parties thrown by Demoncrats. Stay woke y’all.

If Stuart Gordon had stopped after his first three movies, what a track record. Not throwing too much shade on his later work, but Re-animator, From Beyond, and Dolls? What a run! Dolls is easily my fave possessed doll movie. I just never liked Child’s Play 1-3 that much. Been meaning to watch Chucky the show though.

I’m a broken, pathetic record but I envy you coastal posters who get to see screenings with Q and As, check out festivals, see advanced screenings, and see just about any film at the theater, even the ones in pretty limited release. It’s really super cool. Legitimately the biggest downside of living in red America for me.

Hoping to watch it before it leaves Netflix next week. Started it, immediately came when I saw Marisa Thomei, finished in one sense but have 80% of the movie left. yeah you'll get more of a thrill from finishing the movie, it's a wild ride Very good. Michael Keaton’s energy is infectious. Wish Randy Quaid could’ve sustained a career and not gone crazy. Only had issues with the last 20 or so minutes. Definitely in Ron Howard’s “good” column.

Just caught The Substance at the local indie for date night and had the best fucking time. I stole some glances here and there of her face in total disgust so yeah total success. I may catch it again next month for my 31 horror flicks and it’ll assuredly make my top 10 list for the year. Go see it if you can!

I also can’t stop thinking about The Substance.
And yes, society rocks. I’ve never been super big on body horror, but holy shit with both movies.
Oh and in The Substance….the drumstick scene had me howling.
