Gordon was actually originally in talks to direct that one!! (probably why you mentionned it) Still need to check it out... Yup. And would’ve been a great swan song for him too. If Stuart Gordon had stopped after his first three movies, what a track record. Not throwing too much shade on his later work, but Re-animator, From Beyond, and Dolls? What a run! Dolls is easily my fave possessed doll movie. I just never liked Child’s Play 1-3 that much. Been meaning to watch Chucky the show though. Agreed on all counts… well, maybe not Dolls being my favorite possessed doll movie, still think I prefer the Child’s Play movies over it. You like Dolly Dearest?

Worth it? I’ll make a point of seeing it this week.

Just caught The Substance at the local indie for date night and had the best fucking time. I stole some glances here and there of her face in total disgust so yeah total success. I may catch it again next month for my 31 horror flicks and it’ll assuredly make my top 10 list for the year. Go see it if you can! Enzian?

The crown jewel of Orlando FL Had the absolute pleasure and privilege of living walking distance the same same year Eden Bar first opened. Will forever be my gold standard for indie theaters and I hope it never dies.

Now you all have to see 'A Different Man', perfect companion piece to 'The Substance'.

Surprised that so many of you liked Rebel Ridge. The first half or 3/4 were good with the slow build but fuck a PG13 ass revenge flick. He fought a whole squad of redneck cops with martial arts and there were zero kills? Plus LOL @ the cops' babyface turn escorting him out of town and more points off for the storyline of the cops being underfunded. GTFO. Shit sucked.
I did enjoy Oddity for being a solid but predictable horror movie. Excited to peep The Substance.

And an issue movie that handles civil asset forfeiture like a genuine societal ill that actually doesn’t get all that political.

I really enjoyed Blink Twice. Such a great cast and effectively made me feel uncomfortable, wiggling in my seat with dread and actually laugh. Ending was whatever but it was a solid ride. I'll definitely keep and eye on Zoe. It felt like so many films put into a blender but executed perfect.
Followed that with The Killer's Game which was a like a direct to Netflix goofy action film. I love Bautista and fit my schedule so decided to check it out. Sofia Boutella is ridiculously charming and hope they work together again.
Got The Substance, Azrael and Megalopolis on the A-List for next week. Quietly excited for Azrael as everything Simon Barrett is involved with has been a good time.

Just got out The Substance, jesus fucking christ. The first two acts were flawless, immediately thought of Barbie meets Requiem For a Dream, perfect start. Why they decided to do the last act as a comedy I dunno, it definitely worked, multiple people cry laughing from 'the freak' onwards. It ticked the boxes I guess but it definitely took away from the other part of the movie. Definitely left shaking my head a bit. Great movie still but yeah...weird flex. It's kind of annoying how the gore seems to be taking away from any serious message/after thought of the movie, at least with who I've spoken to.

Making my way through the Scream series, currently 45 minutes into 4, but holy shit 3 was awful. It's like they tried to get ahead of Scary Movie with their own parody.

Three is the only one I've seen. I thought it was okay. Don't have the others to compare it too so Idk how it stacks up. My favorite part is when the girl says "I didn't fuck that old man to die with you losers"

Unsurprisingly, the making of 3 was a gigantic mess. It’s amazing it’s as watchable as it is. I think the Scream franchise is the most consistent in horror history. I don’t love any of them, and 3 is the worst, but they’re all watchable and engaging. It’s a very 6/10 sort of franchise for me, but I’m eager to see every new one.

I'm torn on the ending, I didn't like the reaction from the audience it kind of felt out of place but then it fit in with the use and discard theme the film had going on, and the absurdity of the blood raining felt kind of cathartic, it kind of felt like she'd had enough of the pain and was set free and putting the audience through that pain too. As someone who suffers with an addiction the scenes where she was wanting one more day as the best version kind of resonated, so the end scene it kind of felt like that feeling when you are at such a low, any release is cathartic. Maybe I'm just mumbling. I really enjoyed it though.

I’ve known for a while now that Lucio Fulci was a mad genius, but it really became crystal clear tonight after viewing The Devil’s Honey… there’s a scene where a dude blows a saxophone solo into a woman’s pussy. she loved it

I totally got the addiction bit, is it worth having a shorter life but having the highs and lows of something like drugs, or a clean, longer but maybe more boring life? The blood for me was just an extreme version of 'blood is on your hands, you made me like this"
