Everyone name just one movie that’s underrated while not being great. Like “not bad” to “pretty good” but wasn’t well received.
The Ice Harvest
Definitely one of those “it could’ve been great” movies. But I’ve seen it twice and think a fair amount of it works pretty well.

If there's a third one will it be Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice or is that too clever?

'The Instigators' (2024) Definitely not great but better than the average ratings are. For something a little older: 'Maps to the Stars' (2014). & for something even more older: 'Black Rain' (1989). I wouldn't recommend any of these but I wouldn't stop listening to someone's apinion if they liked them a lot.

Randy Quaid in any movie rocks.

Presence was pretty fucking sick. Loving the current phase in Soderbergh's career. Truly one of the most versatile current filmmakers.

Trailer looks okay other than the cast of actors being a might suspicious. Is it that bad? Cronenberg is usually good with the right context.

I loved A Different Man. Still thinking about it. Oswald rocks. More people need to see this one. Thank you for your service. I'm STILL thinking about it.

Joker 2 box office prophecies mean little this late in the game, but I still assume it does more than The Marvels (206 million). But doubt it exceeds 225 million.

It's What's Inside is just Bodies Bodies Bodies with Susperia lighting and body swapping. It's more annoying than it is funny. I get that's the point, but maybe actually make it, I dunno, funny.

Bodies Bodies Bodies has probably my literal favorite ending in all of horror movies. A stroke of genius.

I got to see 'Speed' last night with director Jan de Bont, as well as actors Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock. The Q&A was 50+ minutes, super cool. IMO 'Speed' is Reeves' third best action movie of the nineties... it's a great movie! But let's not act like it touches either of his better films hehe. Kind of a bummer thinking about what they did with 'Speed' and how action movies (especially bigger, more robust ones) will never touch what was accomplished in the nineties (or the eighties.) I hate to be old man yelling at cloud but this period in film making is done... so enjoy your blu-rays, friends. The entire Q&A can be watched here: x.com/willthelandman/status/1843908183557058594

Speed rocked. I remember my friend’s older high school brother taking the both of us to the theater without our parents knowing/giving the ok. My dad was upset, then he saw the movie when it hit VHS, and he was upset no more. He loved Dennis Hopper (typical counter-culture boomer ass Dad, he rocked).
But, yeah, Speed absolutely still holds up really well. And, you’re right, that era is likely no more. This and True Lies will always be a couple of my absolute favorite 90’s actions.

V bummed a couple walked in at the last second so I wasn't totally alone (had to grab a bathroom break for da vape). Absurd. I enjoyed it thoroughly, but wouldn't recommend it to 99% of people. Coppola put so much shit in there. Really glad I caught it in theaters. A movie for moviegoers.

Underrated movie, seems lost to time. It doesn't really have a "gimmick" per se, like most of the bigger canon nineties action flicks. But man... it rocks! One of the best.

Crazy, to me, to think of True Lies as underrated. One of my all time favorites.
For underrated 90s action jawn, I submit: Fled (1996) starring Larry Fishburne and Stephen Baldwin

We'll see how it fares in the nineties action bracket. The true test.

Payback is very underrated. I’ve seen it many times and it’s just a tightly scripted, very good movie with everyone’s favorite antisemite in top form. Never seen the director’s cut.

Looks like people are very divided on Payback vs the director’s cut. Dunno if I wanna see it, cuz I like the original so much.

Depends on your mood. DC is very fatalist and true to the books and the Porter character while Gibson's cut is more fun. I like both cuts a lot.

For underrated 90s action jawn, I submit: Fled (1996) starring Larry Fishburne and Stephen Baldwin Revisited this one recently for the first time since I was a kid. I really hated it lol. All I remembered really was the keyhole scene and I definitely misremembered them being chained together the whole movie, but they arent
