If the Bills line is really this bad there's nothing to be gained from starting Allen unless they want him to end up like David Carr. Word-for-word what I said to my girlfriend like an hour ago. They absolutely cannot put him on the field with that sieve of an OL and receivers that don't even come close to creating separation. Why they didn't hold on to Deonte Thompson I have no idea; it was a cheap contract and he did very well at getting separation and make big catches last year. Also, the Peter Man is 23-of-26 with 300+ yards and a TD so far this preseason. He struggles with zip on the sideline out route but with everything else he's looked very polished and should probably be the week 1 starter. |

Teddy to the Saints for a 3rd. I think that's a good move for both teams. It would have been nice to have Teddy has insurance in case Darnold gets hurt or shows he really isn't ready but at the same time they're probably not a playoff team anyway so a 3rd is a decent return for someone they had nothing invested in.
The Saints are a contender who get a capable backup for Brees this year and hopefully a solid starter for years to come.

Looking at that Rodgers extension, QB is the only position that isn't screwed with guaranteed money in the NFL, and he still has $34m non-guaranteed.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Are the Jets less likely to make the playoffs with Darnold? Probably, but I'm way more excited to watch the guy they traded up for who will hopefully be their QB for the next 15 years.

He's a free agent this year and he's the biggest loser in all of this. He sighned with a team that everyone knew was gonna draft a QB and there would be an open QB competition. He outplayed the drafted QB all through preseason and showed everyone that he's healthy. Then he gets traded to a team with a HoF QB so there's no way he's gonna see the field unless Brees gets hurt.

I don't think there was anything better he could have done. He's never had any hype or defining measurable, so I think he's already in the MCCown Zone for the rest of his career and hangout behind Brees means not taking hits on a bad team.

Teddy could be in the McCown zone but I could also see him Keenuming it up if someone were to go down in front of him at what will likely be multiple 1-2 year stops.

No question. There wasn't another team where he would have had a better chance to start. It's just a bummer for him because there were a lot of performance based incentives in his deal.
Like IGYP mentioned a page or two ago, the QB position is remarkably stable across the league relative to how it usually is. 10 QB's were drafted in the 1st in the last 3 years and almost every other team has a franchise guy or a guy who could be one.
The most likely exceptions are the Broncos, Dolphins, and maybe Bucs and Jags.

The NFC is gonna be ridiculous this year. The only team I think will for sure suck is the Bucs and I could also see them having a sneaky good season if they're not 0-4 when Jameis comes back.
