I mean, Rodgers didn't ask Douglas to let the defensive line rotation be gutted? Hackett, Lazard and Cobb were all obviously dumb moves. But, Jets have way more problems than that. Woody has been calling the shots apparently anyways so. He's hamstrung this team more than anything.

Besides drafting Joe Thomas — which anyone who has ever posted in this thread would have been smart enough to do that year — he took 31 total players in his four-year tenure.

They combined for two Pro Bowl appearances.

The QBs he took were Brady Quinn and Charlie Frye. He traded up for the former.

His most recent work was in 2019, as the GM for something called the Arizona Hotshots in something called the Alliance of American Football.

Did the Jets know they didn’t need to hire a guy the same HOUR they fired one? Serious question. I guess a worse thought is they had been planning on this and the Savage hiring was already in the works. Like I get the Jets were never gonna have pick of the litter but
the best you can do is a guy who hasn’t had an FO job in 15 years and was HORRIBLE when he had it?

Savage has been with the Jets since 2019, and they fired and never replaced Tom Hogan(guy under Douglas and his closet advisor) last year. So, I mean it makes sense I guess?

Swear on my life when I was first on Savage’s Wiki 30 mins ago the last thing for him in the employment section on the right was Arizona Hotshots and now when I go back it has the Jets player personnel job listed underneath.

Woody Johnson is underrated as one of the worst owners in sports. Mainly because he's overshadowed in NY by Dolan and he's willing to spend money so he's always sowing seeds of hope even though the results on the field have been abysmal. He'll never sell the team. He wants the Johnson's to be thought of like the Rooney's. 

It's a shame because he seems determined to produce a winning culture, he just has absolutely no fucking idea what he's doing. Jet's fans are pushing for him to hire a director of football ops. If he finds a competent person for that position it would be great, but again, his hiring decisions have been disastrous.
