Lol she even says some of the legitimate explanations out loud. I wonder why Sbarro would close a bunch of mall locations? And what will Outback do with only 659 remaining locations?!?!

It’s almost like market economy participants go out of business when they are unable to pivot in response to changing demand

I understand nostalgia to a certain extent but I will never get people who get wistful about malls. And im not even talking about people who have fond memories of doing stupid shit with their friends at the mall, they're literally talking about shopping. "I wish malls would come back!" You order shit from amazon daily. WHAT DO YOU WANT?

We used to be a proper country.

I like the idea these people have it Red Lobster as some small mom and pop business and not just an asset in the bloated portfolio of whatever conglomerate owns them.

Always get a chuckle when these free market types have no clue how the economy works.

That they're all sprawl opportunists and absolutely suck to work for? How many of those places didn't even have a full staff to lay off? Under/over that chick plugged a meal delivery service after that faux outrage?

Socks, underwear, workwear, etc - it would be dope to be able to buy this stuff in person. I am out the door for work 6AM-6PM, so I would really like malls to come back.
Of course, to me as a teenager, malls were simply cathedrals to everything I hated about our culture lol.

Whatever you do, don't google how many legacy/household brands wen't bankrupt between 2016-2020! I fucked up, I did it and didn't like what I found www.retaildive.com/news/running-list-major-retail-bankruptcies/624502/Sam Ash files Chapter 11 After 100 years in business, Sam Ash Music filed for Chapter 11 on May 8 in bankruptcy court in New Jersey. The company planned to close all 42 of its retail stores in 16 states. In court documents, the company said it was heavily dependent on in-store traffic, which tanked when the pandemic hit several years ago. Prior to filing, Sam Ash’s liquidity slipped to the point where it started withholding vendor payments. The vendors, in turn, withheld deliveries, which negatively affected in-store and online sales. Sam Ash acknowledged it skipped rent payments for most of its stores in April and May as well. Although stores are closing, CEO David Ash said the company is looking at a possible sale of Sam Ash’s e-commerce business, wholesale Samson business and intellectual property, led by a stalking horse bid from its lender for most of its assets.

BIDENNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention listing Canadian locations for one of them, realizing it's moronic to mention them and then shoehorning "closing some American locations too..." as some sort of save Lol.

I like the idea these people have it Red Lobster as some small mom and pop business and not just an asset in the bloated portfolio of whatever conglomerate owns them. Red Lobster is the perfect example of this, since they were bought by Golden Gate Capital who wanted the land, sold the land for billions and then forced the locations to lease back the land, and then saddled the company with billions in debt, and now they are discharging that debt after selling their stake. Private equity 101. But sure, Joe Biden.

I'm not speaking against brick-and-mortar entirely. I buy those things at physical stores too. I mean malls. A behemoth made up of mostly useless bullshit stores.

I noticed recently that Hobby Lobby pivoted into the zoomer demographic, the commercials are all about coming and buying glitter and beads for your "rave/festival look" and shit.

This lady sounds exacy like Collin Cowherd and it's sending me. The tone, cadence, even the little spit slop in the mouth sound after every word. Truly incredible. Also, all of those restaurants fuckin suck.
