I guess it's okay to go ahead and vote for Harris On NBC, Bernie Sanders said his views were "slightly different" than Harris', but he still considers her a "progressive" with similar goals.
"She has another approach toward moving to universal health care," Sanders said about Harris no longer supporting Medicare-For-All.
"But again, I think on issues like expanding Medicare, like expanding Social Security and lifting the cap on taxable income that the rich put so we can raise Social Security benefits… the need to raise the minimum wage from a starvation, $7.25 minimum wage to a living wage… I think if you campaign on those issues, raising questions on billionaires, you know what? She’s going to win, and I think she can win big," he continued.
Sanders reiterated that he believes Harris to be a "progressive" before listing policies they share support for.
"Look, she and I – she is not where I am, but I think, for example, when she talks about making the child tax credit permanent and you know, we did that in the American Rescue Plan. We lowered childhood poverty by 40%. Kristen, we should not have, as the richest country on earth, one of the highest rates of childhood poverty. When she talks about 3 million units of affordable housing, that’s a big deal because we have a major housing crisis in America. When she talks about passing the PRO Act to make it easier for workers to join unions, that’s a big deal because we have to expand the union movement so the workers get decent wages.
So yes, her views are not mine, but I do consider her a progressive," he added.

Kamala’s closing statement at the debate should just be a string of insane and hard-rocking Trump quotes from the last month. she should read her record as a prosecutor

What I think will happen is Trump will be somewhat reserved for the second time in his life (the first was the Biden debate), while giving terrible answers cuz he either makes things up or doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Harris will be conventional and just okay. After the debate, Trump pulls ahead slightly and keeps that lead until Election Day. Would like to be wrong, but Trump’s embarrassing debate performances in 2020 didn’t move the needle much. Him seeming human in terms of mannerisms will be enough for enough voters to to retreat into “interest rates/gas prices/food prices will magically return to pre-Covid levels” make believe thinking. Of course the best, and almost impossible result, would be he narrowly gets the popular vote and she gets the electoral college. I used to think it was maybe preferable to keep it, but fuck that shit.

I hope you're wrong and he comes out and makes some unhinged statements at the debate. It's the last one he's ever gonna do so I'm hoping he goes out with a bang.

Just remembered Tim Pool has a really, really good band. Weird how these popular new right hard-rockers who do good twitter numbers can’t generate interest for their music. I dunno if you guys are familiar with all around asshole British rapper Zuby, but he’s been doing music forever and became cool with right wing and new centrist twitter well after the fact. Seems the cool fake centrists stopped boosting him after he said women need permission from their man to cut their hair.

I mean I don’t think it’s true of ALL people who describe themselves as conservative. But a lot of normal people who lean conservative are just, like, married midwestern office workers whose loves were forever changed by a Hayek essay they read in college.

Absolutely a waste of time to discuss anything seriously with "conservatives" when all the serious hard-rockers they tried to build up as an intellectual bulwark have abandoned the movement and back the Dems for basic institutional legitimacy and stability. Mostly because they need a job but also really enjoy crying when the national anthem is played at games.
The movement is run by true believers and hooting hogs hawking t shirts and the thinkers hate it.
These 60 year old white landscapers and meemaws who can't operate a jitterbug have serious apinions about trade policy and the bureaucratic system that makes sure they live another day.
One guy commented on CrookedTimber years ago and still rings true:
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition. There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
That's it and all reactionary politics will ever be. Don't complicate it.

I think dems think it can help them with a small percentage of older conservatives, so they welcome the endorsement.

There are just plain “limited government” types who typically vote republican but didn’t vote for Trump. You’re living in a bubble if you’re denying this. There’s more of that type of person than there are pinkos who reluctantly vote for democrats.

Sowell is just Jason Whitlock for economics. He hasn't really done anything in forever except cash a check and have semi-literate whites point to em as "one of the good ones" and remind you Lincoln was a Republican.
Economics is bunk as a hard science and I say that as a Marxist. At least it was in the realm of humanities back then versus crying to get it in the Nobel system.

There’s more of that type of person than there are pinkos who reluctantly vote for democrats. Most "limited government" swing voter types actually depend on the facilitation of basic necessities by the state but it is extremely complex to discuss. It becomes an issue of messaging at that point and way easier to chalk it up to immigrants and minorities. I'd get on any betting site if they ever posted a wager about the Jones Act being brought up at the debate. (Maersk gang)
