I don’t think there’s ever been a president where at least… 30%? 20%? of the population is completely unperturbed by an attempt on his life.

The Pelosis, election workers, attorneys, judges, and the entire city of Springfield, Ohio have all been terrorized because of Trump and his stooges’s rhetoric. And oh yeah a violent (but incompetent) coup attempt where everyone involved said they did it because they thought Trump wanted it. Absolute joke that they’re complaining about rhetoric. The worst thing about these would be assassins is that they failed so we have to hear this bullshit woe is me routine.

Not a lot of stuff gets me riled in ol’ run of the mill politics, but this thing where republicans try to pretend like they’re the adult in the room and blame these Trump assassination attempts on “rhetoric” from the left is infuriating. And it’s working on probably half the country. You don’t get to cry about this stuff when your dude caused Jan 6th and put this Haitian Ohio shit onto every conservative grandmas radar. You don’t get to call an entire nuanced population of people “vermin” and then employ your loser constituency to tell folks to “tone it down.” Agree with all this but I don’t think it’s actually working on half the country or anywhere close. Seems like a large swath doesn’t remotely care about the attempt. Anecdotes about our personal social feeds don’t mean shit, but I’m seeing a number of folks from back home who are Trump supporters who are now just exasperated by all of it and want him to go away. Time will tell.

Etiquette, decency, and magnanimity for thee, saying whatever the fuck I want and being crazy for me. So much for accusing the left of being pussies for saying “speech is violence.”

Time will tell. Trump/stupid people don't ACTUALLY care about anything tho, they just like to have a running list of grievances to roll out whenever provoked. This 2nd attempt on Trump adds to the list, and unfortunately it's stuff like this that goes a LONG way with new/uninformed/uneducated voters. Look no further than KingCobraJFS voting for Trump because Biden is a "creepy kid-smelling pedo."

It’s all the same as it ever was, nothing new
There are no undecided voters and this second attempt doesn’t move the needle

So a democrat and a republican tried to take Donny’s life. Is this the bipartisanship the country needs?

Also, love the National Retail Foundation and associated groups cryassing about a supposed shoplifting epidemic, but the most they'll do is throw up a sign on the store's door. You wanna penalize your employees for not reducing theft, but you wont either (a) empower them to do anything about it or (b) hire security guards? IT'S A LOAD OF CRAP!

Springfield people seem to feel they're being bullied and persecuted, but is it possible they deserve it, as many residents of Ohio do?

"JD Vance got a former professor to delete a blog post Vance wrote in 2012 attacking GOP over anti-immigrant rhetoric Nelson told CNN that during the 2016 Republican primary he agreed to delete the article at Vance’s request, so that Vance might have an easier time getting a job in Republican politics. However, the article, titled “A Blueprint for the GOP,” remains viewable on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
“A significant part of Republican immigration policy centers on the possibility of deporting 12 million people (or ‘self-deporting’ them),” Vance wrote. “Think about it: we conservatives (rightly) mistrust the government to efficiently administer business loans and regulate our food supply, yet we allegedly believe that it can deport millions of unregistered aliens. The notion fails to pass the laugh test. The same can be said for too much of the party’s platform.”
Twelve years later, as former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Vance espouses many of the same anti-immigrant postures that he criticized back in 2012 as a 28-year-old law school student. In recent days, Vance has amplified baseless claims against Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio."

The middle of the reformicon era, with that famous post-election autopsy report. Seems in the end they kinda wrong and kinda right. Ramping up the stupidity and racism actually expanded the tent in some ways. Cuz the thinking back then was “we’re fucked” due to demographic shift. Like by 2024, without moderating, they wouldn’t be viable at a national level anymore. When that wasn’t looking so true anymore, the fuckers like Vance changed direction.

More so than just about any other American politician, truly a man who will do and say anything. Theres no low. May he help Trump lose the election and feel ostracism every time he leaves his house for the rest of his life.

or terrorism and genocide better descriptors. Ugov poll says majority of independent and democrats no arms sales without restrictions or cease fire is poling super high. So dens could easily brat trump but they'd rather stay with isrea.

Not that I think these particular types of polls are all that accurate, but if you don't break things down by demographics, they don't mean much. If "people under 30" are doing a lot of the heavy-lifting for a given percentage in support or opposition to something, it doesn't mean as much because it's a demographic that doesn't vote often. We are ruled over by geriatrics.

I'm on a break so I'll look, but according to the June 5-7 CBS Poll I just looked at:
Of those that claim Biden should encourage Israel to decrease or stop its military actions in Gaza -- 22% and 37% respectfully. The majority of those who say "stop" are under 30, a demographic that does not vote often. You'll see this same breakdown when you look at opposition to sending weapons and supplies to Israel. When you look at whether Israel-Palestine is a major factor, you see a 35% total, and (again) of that 35%, 43% are under 30, a demographic that does not vote often. 64% of people who identify as liberal claim it is a minor factor or not a factor at all. And this can all depend on who you survey and where they live and when you conduct the survey and how you phrase the questions.
Lookin at the poll results above from Data For Progress, 65% of Democrats strongly or somewhat approve of Biden's job wrt Israel.

I wonder how much of that generational divide is due to a phenomenon of people getting more conservative as they age vs older folks not being as plugged in to sources of information that are more likely to be critical of Israel ( eg tiktok or non mainstream media).
In my lifetime I’ve seen Israel elect its most right wing government, launch various military campaigns in Gaza, kill American journalists, vastly expand settlements etc. Feels like the older generation still views Israel through a lens of liberal Zionism.
