Frankly, this “private mental sentiment” theory of political identification does not strike me as materialist! But, then again, all such phenomena are poorly explained away with an appeal to kneejerk strong emergentism in Marx’s work without much explanation.

The explanation of the Williams case I read makes me think that he probably shouldn't have been executed but also that it wasn't a slam dunk for his innocence. There was bad behavior from the prosecutor and the cops contaminated DNA evidence, but it doesn't necessarily prove his innocence.
Also pretty sure Biden could only offer clemency for federal crimes.

I agree but we don't live in a country that agrees with us. A lot of the bloodthirsty psychos in this country seem to want to expand the crimes the government can murder people for. Especially those great guys in the working class.

I wanna know, just…why do trucks have to ride so high? What’s the purpose or intention? I work at a big school for my state. As far as I can tell, I’m the only guy teacher who doesn’t drive a truck. Some people certainly need one, but very few of my coworkers are working construction gigs.

I think it probably actually served a real purpose at one point, but in 2024 it's just sorta a "thing" dads passed down to sons, who passed it onto sons in families...
Like, there's really no explanation for it other than a kinda "I was told this was masculine" thing from upbringing. This obviously doesn't apply to actual rural/ag folks, or people who really do spend time in terrain that might require a vehicle that size.

I certainly love traveling up many mountain roads, but I’ve felt better served by something other than a big truck, unless the clearance needed for a really fucked up stretch of road is wild. The primary advantage is just one with generous bed can be outfitted for pretty good sleeping quarters.

Heck, I truly only know one other male in my state who doesn’t drive a truck. Super awesome retired pastor next door who used to drive an old used beater truck but just upgraded to a Subaru. Even the less conservative guys (not that there are many) I know all have big trucks.
