A lot of polls right now are weighting based on 2020 vote, and in turn are getting results close to the 2020 actual election. They weren't doing the same weighting in 2020 polls because it produces worse results. Basically the polls that don't use this weighting show 2022 outcomes and the polls that do use past votes show 2020 outcomes. Past votes are remembered imperfectly and tend to result in polls that overstate support for the loser of the last election.

2016 broke polling in some ways. They don’t know who or what to overestimate or underestimate, especially in light of how off the walls the past three or so months have been. Plus, just like in the final weeks of 2022, aggregates are again being inundated with junk polls by right wing pollsters and it muddies everything even further.
Is this like 2022 where they flood the zone to try and sway public perception, knowing it’s bullshit…? This election stinks.
