leftist identity politics that are divroced from genuine class analysis are definitely a problem but in this context i think the sort of hare-brained "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" thinking of people who fancy themselves anti-imperialist (but turn a blind eye to imperialism carried out by non-western states) is the most poisonous thing. taking sides wholly in nationalist squabbles (e.g. uncritically supporting hamas or hezbollah or whatever) runs contrary to what anyone who calls themselves a communist or a leftist ought to believe (proletarian internationalism). this sort of thinking leads you to being like "david duke is actually kinda chill bro" and in the end you are effectively just a nazbol.

I think the Clarence Thomas types really crystalize the ideological fault line in America. It’s people who are desperate to maintain a dying patriarchy against everyone else. I think the “lost” working class folks would be a lost cause regardless because they've attached their identity to patriarchy. It would be foolish to think they’d support taking power away from business daddies because they're desperate to remain daddies themselves. If workers have rights then wives and children might have rights and no longer be their property.

Not rooted in anything real obv, but part of me wonders if Trump's handlers manipulate him into believing it's his own idea to cancel these appearances. They know the scope of his decline, how he can't stay on topic to save his life (worse than usual lol) and how he can't seem to avoid acting bizarre and saying inappropriate shit in inappropriate places (calling Katie Britt "fantastically attractive" during an all-female town hall event for example lol)...

They can't take the risk of a major gaff that alienates folks this close to Election Day, it could set the party back a decade, if not more.

Less than a month out, it's hard to imagine there's still well-adjusted independents who've seen the last several weeks of Trump and thought, "hell yeah gimme more of that."

Polls are all over the place, but a Fox poll from two days ago, which is actually one of the better and more respected polls despite the messenger, had Trump +2 nationally and Kamala +6 in seven of the battleground states.

It would be soooooo funny if she lost the PV and won the EC.

On this, yeah, pretty much. Things tightened, which was largely expected as Election Day draws closer.

There’s so much noise, too, that is pretty dubious. A lot made about Black men defecting, which yeah sure, but they’re also one of the single lowest and least reliable voting blocks. When taking the Black vote in totality, Kamala is pretty much performing just as Biden did. Pretty much anything he’s peeling away, it’s been a wash so far because she makes up ground elsewhere.

Trump people are historically stupid/unreliable/flaky. I assume out of every 10 people loudly voting Trump, only about 6-7 of them will actually register and show up/mail in.

Harris campaign, if they lose, wasted too much time and were way too confident those first couple weeks. She was everywhere that first few weeks, but are we sure those were the right fuckin’ places to be?

They also haven’t punched below the belt enough. This fucking guy waves classified documents about military operations around tourists and journalists. Push him on it, make him say something that’ll fuck him with Jack Smith. Sitting down with Brett Baier on FOX? Shoehorn the fact that the pro Trump FOX just paid 3/4 of a BILLION for knowingly lying to its viewers on Trumps behalf. This kinda stuff doesn’t get spelled out to the average American anywhere NEAR as much as it should.

Just drives me nuts that the dems kinda carry themselves like the intelligent, college educated drivers of idea and culture, so why can’t they figure out the winning way of smearing Trump in the way Trump does so effectively?

Nate Silver has Trump as a the favorite as of today, just barely. I think dems think they shouldn’t provide complex answers to any questions, so Trump, with even simpler answers, is more satisfying. Who knows, it may just be that whoever is in charge post-Covid gets wrecked electorally. That’s how it’s been going around the world.
