I really had to wait a day and collect my thoughts before I made my final statement on this issue.

explain how biden did it himself. he did not raise the federal minimum wages for any workers Well, obviously he didn't do it all by himself. He wouldn't have raised the federal minimum wages by himself, either. It's policy. The federal government can take action that will raise the wages of various groups in various ways without ever touching the federal minimum wage and you should know that. It is weird that you do not know that. For example, the provision of enhanced and expanded unemployment insurance can provide low-wage workers with greater leverage in the labor market. And that is something that did, in fact, happen. Low-wage workers experienced fast wage growth in all states, regardless of changes to that state's minimum wage. the biggest thing that affected the wages of those jobs was covid. you had people who were stuck in the grind of those jobs for years telling themselves “i’ve really gotta look for a better job when i get time” covid shut their jobs down they were home collecting unemployment and job hunting and they left and never came back. plus all the workers in those industries that literally died. huge labor shortage. which biden didn’t create. (arguably trump did but i don’t think he wants credit for that one) up where i live wawa is overpaying for lots right next to or across the street from quickcheks, walking into said quickchek and offering all their workers $4-5/hr more and stealing their entire crew. which fuckin rocks and i love it, but biden didn’t do that

Minimum wage ain't shit when you have a good social safety net and trade unions. All my Scandinavian homies hate the minimum wage.

Trump did not participate in negotiations and couldn't seem to figure out what it was he wanted to sign. The administration that followed significantly extended and expanded unemployment insurance and a child tax credit. The American Rescue Plan Act was a single party's effort. Writing stimulus checks is great, but it does not have the same macro-level effect. While inflation was bad everywhere, it was less bad in the United States. Most notably, as I already said, the wages of the poorest Americans increased because of policies which gave them leverage in the labor market. Unemployment was historically low while wages for the poorest workers increased. There was also revocation of Trump's Executive Orders that curtailed the collective bargaining rights of federal employees from 2018.

I don't disagree with you but this is a vibes economy and vibes are bad.
I was shopping for some briefs and was browsing around. A three pack of men's Reebok Athletics were $25 dang bucks! Due to the other inflation in the nation, same style boys XL are a five pack and fit the same 32inch waist and weiner pouch but cost $14?
Doesn't make sense to me but saved $10. I'm an economics genius.

Housing costs and commercial vacancy rates aren’t imagined, but some of that has more to do with smaller units of government than the fed.

Most people have fish brains and forgot about the post COVID labor demand. Wages rose in every possible metric that tackled inequality but inflation (while lower than most other developed countries) was still sticker shock to people.
Early Summer 2021 and McDonald's in rural Maine openly advertised $18/hr positions.
None of this matters because you cannot effectively communicate economic policy. Which is why nerds lose and cowboys win.

Housing costs and commercial vacancies were absolutely vibes. GOP were hammering talking about immigration and boarded up stores.
Don't disagree with you on reality and policy but unfortunately we have to have people believing things and wonk shit is homework for people who hated school.

Yeah, but I mean, commercial vacancies (plus end of covid-era subsidies) are pretty rough for city finances.
Lotta city/state public services are in rough shape. Look at Bay Area Rapid Transit for a prime example.
With Trump and the GOP with this share of power, plus some of what’s Project 25, a lot of that doesn’t look so good.

Expanded the original comment so I'll have to reiterate that most people flush a toilet and shit disappears the same as putting their barrels out at night and empty tomorrow. It's fleeting. I'm a dumb Marxist but absolutely loved state level programs that got funding under the current administration that I've seen have direct improvements for the working class. You're not wrong. You're just not winning anyone over.

the epic based trad working class patriots yearn for George W Bush 2.0 the problem with 80 year old presidents/politicians. instead of only having a minimum age to be president there should be a maximum age as well. so they actually care about what happens in the next 30 years and not just the next 5 cause they’re gonna die anyway so just looking to make a quick buck

You’re fucking wrong, dude. This isn’t something where there’s widespread disagreement. Writing people checks isn’t meant to give workers leverage. Expanding labor standards, certain tax credits, and unemployment insurance is.

I'm guessing all the manosphere incels did too. they pivoted from Project 2025 to something similar called America First policy which I know even less about I know he was trying to distance himself from it but I read an article that was full of right wing bloggers/influencer types being like, "so we're gonna go through with project 2025 now, right?" Which with the house pretty much locked up I don't see what's stopping them now.
