I am fucking furious reading that. OK. It made its way to the state ballot here in MA with intentionally obfuscated language that doesn't help, especially when a lot of people are ignorant or bigots against trans to begin with. It's wholesale cruelty. The top comment on that NYT piece is about hushing up to not make people uncomfortable when protections are being stripped away for one of the most targeted and vulnerable populations. |

Not really. Things will ebb and flow. This administration will eventually have to leave and then they’ll die out and then we’ll get another democrat or progressive in power and the world will keep spinning. So are we gonna talk about how Trump very intentionally called himself a nationalist at a rally yesterday? Like, is it even a dog whistle at this point? The next step is to just add "white" in front of it. And I can already see how it's gonna go, because it's how he justified calling himself a nationalist. "What's wrong with being white and being proud of it? What's wrong with being a nationalist? I guess that makes me a white nationalist".

But then it started showing in the cabinet appointments, and the fact that he was putting people who had ties to white nationalism in positions over power everywhere he could. Then ICE slowly started to ramp up deportations, then they started keeping immigrant children in detainment. And now he is calling himself a nationalist. We are terrifyingly close to actual fascism. Every day I feel more justified in those initial fears and I don't really know what to do.
