But Trump specifically has made very clear his intent to complete the process of eroding institutions in this country, and it's not necessarily him, but the fash-ghouls running his campaign Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. I don't think we have any reason to doubt their intent or not take it seriously. They want a strong man leader in the white house who will crush dissent by force and use the military or their rabid followers to do it. I'll do anything to keep those cretins out of the white house again. I think four years of Trump knocked any sense of naivete I had about how strong our institutions are out of my mind. |

Packing the court presumes a) Democrats/progressives win elections for the rest of time, and b) Republicans even honor a Supreme Court that Democrats pack. To me, packing the court just gives Republicans a reason to disregard or deligitimaize the court, and for the general public to think they're right. |

They, for better or worse, formed a weird backstop against some of the craziest shit Trump wanted to do. Since leaving the White House he has shit on each and every single one of them. This time, they have said this publicly, they are going to be prepared. Cabinet will be true believer crazies. No fucking backstop.
