Biden's done a much better job filling out the cabinet and limiting turnaround. There's something to be said about consistency/continuity, look at Trump's staff during his presidency. It was a revolving door. Beyond that, he filled it with people (via quid pro quo, presumably) who had no business doing the job. Look no further than his dumb kids being lent a shred of legitimacy during his four years in office. I'm not a Biden guy but I have more confidence in him operating at 70% speed with 50+ years of public service than I do Trump. And that's even if you somehow gloss over Trump's pretty obvious flirtations with autocracy. This whole "he's an outsider, maybe he'll fix things and run them like a business" thing died within weeks of Trump's inauguration. not even that, but trump intentionally filled positions with sandbaggers. dejoy, devos, his entire labor dept and NLRB was anti-union people etc |

Labor movement has never been stronger in my memory tbh. And more young people than ever in the West support at least socialist policy and the labor movement. There is a small but growing minority of alt-rightish movements amongst young people, but they are statedly outcasts in society. Say what you will about social media, but it makes public apinion a lot more important than whatever propaganda we've been forced to ingest in the past. That alt-right stuff is definitely not outcasts. You spend a few minutes on YouTube shorts and you'll get some misogynistic Andrew Tate video, UFC is peddaling out fighters who regurgitate their talking points and even comedians are now too, they know how to use guns, and hell they might even have their candidate back in the Whitehouse soon. Like if anyone is geared for a "revolution" it's probably these chuds. I think the sooner the left moves away from ideological differences and figures out a unifying movement there's hope... Just look at how EZLN started off the backs of the Mexican revolution, or even with the Cuban revolution they didn't go fully communist until they gained power. But we'll see when that happens. |

Also, any successful revolution here in Canada(and probably the US too) needs to be indigenous led, and I have no idea how you can all of a sudden convince people who prefer autonomy and have been told not to trust whitey their whole lives.

Capitalism is not a static, immobile system that is permanently in place. It's not the natural order of things, and takes meticulous and copious amounts of work to maintain. Climate disaster, housing crisis, homelessness, LGBTQIA+ discrimination, all of it gets worse if we can't imagine a better world first. |
