My kids are going to community college and state schools unless I incur no financial burden from going to a fancy place. I don’t give a fuck about prestige or credentialism. Not raising my kids to privilege that sort of thing either.

i think i’m at the point where i just don’t feel anything about this election at all rn. like i’ll probably end up filling in the kamala box because in some sense it feels like the right thing to do i guess, but i don’t really care if she wins or not, nor do i feel like she deserves to. i’m just ready for this shit to be over with at this point.

I mean if all they care about is a good paying job trade school probably makes a lot of sense. As boomers retire/die the shortages for skilled trades are only going to get worse, which should lead to pretty good wage growth.

I usually try and go into stuff with a certain level of objectivity, and even with the obvious tilt I have toward "Trump is dog shit personified" I try and view recent big picture politics + American government through a sorta prism of "how badly will the country pay LONG TERM for this particular assholes hypothetical impact?" And that's not just their influence over policy or economic stuff, I'm talking who are they pulling up with them? What awful pockets of this country get to feel high on the hog for four years while continuing some grift that hurts average people, or takes advantage of vulnerable populations?
I gotta say tho, I don't think I've ever hated anybody associated with American politics worse than this last near-decade of Trump apologists and all these emboldened racists with no real political motivation beyond "I hate brown people and LGBTQ." For me personally, it all feels just so obviously wrong, and counter to whatever I was raised to understand almost intuitively as right and fair. Trump's side getting back in is basically like the mob becoming a third viable political party. It's in the same "moral outrage" category as the Church of Scientology getting religious org tax exempt status, as far as I'm concerned.
It's just so obviously wrong, and even a lot of the people who push the agenda seem to do it knowing it's wrong but somehow Harris is "wronger".

Dude who’s been right 9/10 times still confidently has it Harris. Trump Media stock valuation lost $2.6 billion today. I still think it’s so close that the slightest misstep/bad quote from Harris could yank her chances out from under her. And that’s really indicative of the double standard between her and Trump tbh.
