What’s the takeaway? Dems are some of the dumbest people on earth? Kamala was a dog shit candidate? That the average American is as dumb and racist, or even more so than we thought? 🤔 I'll be interested to see the data but I think there's really no point in speculating wildly. Trump and his surrogates were able to convince people the economy was bad, and a lot of times that's all it takes. I think women, young people, black people, and brown people as well as young men in some of those categories skew more towards Trump than people realize. There is a real sickness among young men and a lot of young people that I think unless you're in the manosphere youre just not seeing it. |

We all know this I reckon, but this is way worse than 2016. Not only will it feel like Trump has more of a mandate, but the guardrails are gone or severely weakened. The adults have been sent out to pasture or have no influence anymore.

Scared for my gay and trans friends. Scared for the women in my life. Scared for the future. Scared for my kids. Scared for Palestine. Really don't have much of any hope for the future. Federal judges are going to flow into all major appointments. Two supreme court justices if not more will retire. His indictments go away. Economy will absolutely tank. Just very fucking scared and deflated. you should be scared for them either outcome, the last 4 years werent good for abortion rights and gay rights across the country and kamala wouldnt do anything to be actively better. The leaders of most countries (with elections) have been booted or lost significant support post-covid, so I think that may be the biggest factor. Difficult to say “it’s going to take a number of years to rebound from this.” Its not a winning message.

Pretty insular and small of me to be having an existential moment right now, but I know my politics or at least the temperament through which I approach politics just aren’t shared by the average American. And that’s certainly true about my thoughts or preferences compared to many board is lifers as well. But the world seems that much lonelier now. I guess even for people who don’t generally desire or seek community, it’s nice to feel a shared belief or thread or purpose. There’s nobody in real life I’d say this to, and I guess it’s kinda pathetic to be posting it here now. But if I didn’t express it, I’d just hold on to it and the emptiness might just expand.
