teachers union member voted for the PRO act this is incredibly surprising and a huge relief. he’ll probably offset it by filling the NLRB with union busting lawyers like last time though the supreme court is probably going to wholesale outlaw the NLRB thanks to Bezos and Musk |

I dunno about anybody else but I've gone into full-on "insulate from harm" mode with all of this lol. I skim headlines on Reuters and AP to get some nonpartisan equilibrium for where the Trump thing's at post-Election Day and just the headlines inside of three weeks have been out of control. You've really almost gotta view it like it's 50 years in the future and we're watching a Netflix documentary or something, because it's just so wildly not right.
I know it's small and it's the NFL but like, Niners players wearing the hat and doing the dance and stuff? Trump isn't cool, he shouldn't even kinda be propped up as that sort of cultural icon. They might say it "isn't a political thing" but there's a real tangible shift just in the last few weeks of the folks you didn't think would vote Trump getting that bravado back again. I'm not a football guy, and maybe the Niners thing is a bad example, but I dunno... maybe I'm wrong.

It’s possible his second term he’s down 10-15 points from now, but it’s not gonna be like the end of W’s second term. Even more hyper partisan makeup of the electorate means no one will ever drop below 30%. The base loves him cuz they’re conspiracy addled fucktards. Young people like him (by a much larger margin than assumed) cuz memes and attitude, and they don’t really follow the news or have any understanding of any of this, it’s just TikTok and Instagram stuff. So they have Trump being amusing and mentally fragile college-age lefties looking like freaks every day in their feeds. I’m just going back to not caring. The study on humanity is over for me. I don’t think we’re headed to 20th century wartime or fascism, but lots of the American population would welcome the march towards it in ways I didn’t believe when I was younger. The long arc of history might bend towards longer lives, more prosperity, justice, and easy access to porn, but it will forever be up against the mass psychology of a very petty, hopelessly ignorant and immature species. |
