If a building is going up in flames you don't refuse to shut off the gas until all of your demands about how it is going to be rebuilt are met. this is a terrible analogy because no matter which of these people you vote for, that building is still burning down. if you think joe biden is capable of stopping the crumbling of the american empire, buddy have i got a bridge to sell you

Thanks straight white guy who lives in Canada. engage in the critique then. how does biden rescue the crumbling american empire? What is the point of engaging someone without an ethos? You're a nihilist and a contrarian whose hot takes are a manifestation of your own deep seated emotional issues. Not worth it, bud. Find attention and affirmation elsewhere.

You're a nihilist and a contrarian whose hot takes are a manifestation of your own deep seated emotional issues. Not worth it, bud. Find attention and affirmation elsewhere. I'd be generally curious in engaging this sort of question. I'm part of the 'progressive caucus' for democrats abroad (kill me, I know) and I've yet to really find anyone to engage with me about actual policy, or any real arguments to support Biden besides "he's not Trump" or some faux bleeding heart liberalism about “protecting those communities”. I've often been called out for being "too critical" and told "no president is perfect" in response. Granted, being abroad changes the framework to some extent and limits the type of activism that we can do here (DA spends most of their energy trying to get US citizens abroad to vote) but I'd generally like to know where you stand on this/what arguments you feel are useful. Do you see it as a "I won't endorse him but I'll vote for him" and in doing so, accept not only all of his past policy positions/statements/etc. (as well as most of his campaign team)? Is it the argument that "it's worth holding my nose for other communities that are in danger" - and if so, how do you respond to portions of those communities who say that being "not Trump" is not enough? Is it a "he'll be my enemy #1 after he's elected" - whatever the hell that means - idea?

Biden will at least push a public option. Which is either gonna fail miserably and get us closer to single payer as we cross another alternative off the list or be wildly popular and expand coverage by a lot.
Biden also will presumably at least resume the Obama era policies on social issues which are important and a huge difference.
Not to mention during a global pandemic it would be nice to have a leader that listens to medical experts.
That meme before is so ducking true.

The public option is the only thing that would really be affected by that.

youre aware the senate controls the money right? i think that would greatly shape how the pandemic gets held from a governmental help standpoint, no?

For arguments sake, you could replace Biden with almost any of the Democratic candidates who ran, and get the same result, right?

The House "controls the money". — U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 7, clause 1. "Senate" isn't a catchall term for Congress. Do you think pulling funding from the WHO was an act of the Senate? Did the Senate nix the Global Health Security office?

I get that, but what I can't grasp is the willingness of people to not to tear him apart, it seems the only way to force him to the left (including policies and ideas that are widley popular - e.g. police abolition), especially within the democratic party. (I know the obvious answer, but you know what I mean).
edited for clarity.

Apparently 20 Indian soldiers were killed in some kind of brawl with non-imperialist China and dozens of others were captured.

Really feels like this is gonna be a nixon/McGovern or Regan/Mondale type election. I don't think the guy who eeked out a win from 70,000 votes across 3-4 states is going to win all but 3 states in the next election...

This is crazy, but turnout is higher than it's been in 40 years, Biden wins but gets less total votes than Hillary. Trumpgrets are REAL. There's a massive amount of 3rd party votes but no real 3rd place candidate, and a lot of blank president/down ballot votes.
