Brain Stew was the first and only song I ever learned on guitar when I was 12.

Insomniac and Dookie are close, would have to back OP, though. Both are way better than Nimrod.

Was expecting more backlash. Seriously Armatage Shanks is one of my favourite songs of all time, one of those songs that I wish were longer but glad its not.

Do people really rank nimrod that highly?
While great, I think Dookie is so seminal because of the era it was released in, and the impact it had on punk thereafter. I think people who have more than a passing interest in green day would agree insomniac is better, if only a little.

The whole production on the album was spot on. It kinda felt darker too, which I liked.

It's a shame they didn't continue the progression they took on Nimrod, though I imagine a lot of the influence on their writing style was the conditions they were living in at the time and once they made it big they weren't exactly hurting for anything.

Insomniac is the best Green Day record and if it weren't for Brain Stew it would be flawless.
