right because the nhl is too dumb to realize drama and chaos drives fan interest and actually grows the game. and there’s such an emphasis on drafting and developing cause the celery cap and free agency rules are so prohibitive. which again, get rid of those and fan interest goes through the roof

I can't read the Athletic article, but saw this somewhere else and it's such a load of shit. Betting on the draft is dumb anyways and I doubt they get heavy action on it in the first place.

Right they don't have to bet but they do and they're obsessed.
Legalized sports betting is already going to ruin sports.. if you don't regulate it, insider trading becomes rampant and guys are throwing games and stuff and all that chaos and drama that grows the game will destroy it equally as fast.

You could bet on this before it was legal, and you can bet on it when Woj leaks NBA draft picks. What happens is once it's leaked they can pull it off the board immediately.
It's a big load of shit that's only meant to protect the bookies.

It's wild how they just let the bookies completely take over. Reminds me of a soccer player who got banned for about a year because he simply told his friends where he was transferring to and those friends decided to bet on it.

Fuck, that was tough to watch.
You can hear Gary announcing that McDavid won the Conn Smyth and not a single movement or reaction from any of those guys.

It's truly to wild to think that we are something like 6 wins away from Corey Perry being a FIVE time Stanley Cup Champion.

Yeah that wasn't tough to watch at all for me. Inject Corey Perry sadness into my bloodstream.

Oilers are $10M over the cap currently so they're fucked.
It's pretty hilarious that this team is going to get broken up because Holland thought that Darnell fucking Nurse was worth the same amount as Fox and Makar, haha

Weird deal. Not sure why the Sharks didn’t try to get a bigger return for bailing the Oilers out.

I haven’t really followed Laine in Columbus that closely but I didn’t realise it was “trade for a guy I’ve never heard of and we’ll throw in a second” bad.

No denying he was shit in Columbus and his celery isn't ideal, but he's young and I think he can turn it around.

No denying he was shit in Columbus and his celery isn't ideal, but he's young and I think he can turn it around. Yeah, teams are interested for that very reason. He's only 26 and if he can regain that ability he used to have to score at will, teams would be lining up to sign him. But right now, with his mental health issues and goal scoring numbers, teams are going to hopefully buy low and bank on him getting back to his old self.

Sharks getting their hopefully franchise goalie for the return from the Hertl trade is pretty tight.

Grier has done a master class of ridding the Sharks of their anchor contracts without retention and without giving up anything of serious value.

He filled their final retention slot for the next 3 years with the Hertl trade but it really doesn't hinder them much in that time frame. The Sharks have had a really good summer. Not sure what the Ceci trade was all about but whatever. Grier ended up with a 3rd rounder for a waiver pick up so I guess that's a win?
