I still haven't been to a playoff game. Hopefully I can change that this season. I was killing it between '95 & '03 regarding playoff games but after '03 I believe they lost every playoff game I wen't to. I was only saved by their absence from any playoff games recently. |

Don't know if any of you watched the opening of the CBJ game but god damn, it was devastating. They raised Johnny Hockey's number to the rafters with lots of tears from his teammates and his family. His dad looks absolutely wrecked. It was hard to watch. my entire social media feed so flooded with gaudreau stuff i wouldn’t have even known there was a goalie goal scored that same night without hearing about it on a podcast the next day I just found out about the goalie goal from this post. Pretty wild that there has been a goalie goal in each of the last 3 seasons |

To make this all even better this entire core is locked up for YEARS. They couldn’t rebuild if they wanted to.
And if they could, they’d stockpile the best farm system in the league for the umpteenth time, not develop them, and then watch them go to other teams to succeed.
There is literally an entire generation now of kids as old as 16-17 years old that have no recollection of the Sabres being good or weren’t even old enough to see it anyhow.

I meant that as in both teams hiring a coach that's not good fit.
That was not a dig at Torts, I am huge defender of his. I know he burns out but that guy has a good track record of turning teams around if they're built with his style of players.
Torts in Vancouver was never going to work and Ruff in Buffalo is also not going to work.

I don't know how many Sharks playoff games I've been to but Game 7 vs the Flames in 2008 was a good one. JR with two goals, Kipper getting pulled, Owen Nolan back at the tank with a goal. That was a fun Sharks team.
Most stressful was game 4 of the 2016 SCF. Obviously the Sharks weren't gonna get it done.
Also I got a fist bump from Felix Potvin as he exited the ice it must have been the 94 playoffs. My youth team played in the intermission and I was the goalie so that was awesome.

not me, but also not super surprised since with such a massive roster shakeup like that it takes a bit for guys to get acclimated and develop chemistry etc i’m sure they’ll figure it out and go on a run

Yeah, feels like the teams that really mess with the rosters (especially adding that many top-line people) take a bit of time to figure out positioning and speed.
Broberg is like top 5 right now for D-men... no way that last but god damn that "overpay" some Oilers fans talked about looks dumb. Holloways first goal as a Blue Note was slick too.

Why not Columbus day then? I understand now going against full slates of football and avoiding work hours on a weekday, so why not a holiday?
As it stands, it's a completely hollow, zero effort, marketing strategy. There are a bunch of games on every night. Every team playing and an hour early start time is meaningless.

A holiday would be a good idea but not sure Columbus Day is it.. I don't think I've ever had a job that gave me off for that.
I disagree with your assessment about the product. I thought it was awesome last year. It's not just every team playing, it's a panel that jumps around from game to game when fun stuff happens. Obviously trying to replicate Redzone but hockey is a different game so it's usually a little delayed because someone scores so they go to that game to catch the replay.

Frozen Frenzy was way less enjoyable this year. They didn't do all these stupid interviews and gimmicks last year. It was just hockey. I also don't remember them talking over the broadcasts as much.
