Lol, I can't justify massive 30+ record influxes to the collection anymore. But yeah, the collector in me emerged recently and I grabbed the (30th anniv.) Unbroken - Life. Love. Regret. 2xLP splatter. Similarly, grabbed the Shotmaker - A Moment in Time "Box Set" (3xLP).

Record collecting has become such a joke this last couple of years. The used and new market is garbage. Spending 30 bucks plus shipping for a record is just insane. Hopefully vinyl goes out of fashion again and all the investing bros move to the next trend

Record collecting has become such a joke this last couple of years. The used and new market is garbage. Spending 30 bucks plus shipping for a record is just insane. Hopefully vinyl goes out of fashion again and all the investing bros move to the next trend I feel this. The used market is ridiculous. I find insane price tags even at thrift stores on things that are in absolute atrocious shape. It's like someone looks up the highest something has ever sold for on Discogs and that's their asking price. I have my best luck buying directly on Discogs from reputable sellers though; places that have a huge inventory and actually want things to turn over seem to price and grade things pretty fairly. New records I can't complain too much about. Shit just costs a lot more to produce now. Gone are the days of a $12 new record, so I'll keep supporting smaller labels to make sure they can keep putting out more records. And honestly, I'd rather overpay a bit for new music on vinyl than have it not be an option like it was throughout MOST of the '90s - the mid '00s. I do miss taking $50 to the record store and walking out with a STACK though

The prices of used records have been insane for the last 5 or so years. I used to be able go to a flea market or used record store and get almost anything for under $10. Now you go to a flea market and see absolutely BEAT Rolling Stones or Beatles records for $40. Who the hell is buying that?

Clueless sellers are using Discogs to set their prices. A $100 record that has been sitting unsold for a year isn't the current going rate, dumbass.

Some labels are upping the punx and have been able to keep their prices down. For instance, Havoc has their Discharge and Disfear LP reissues for $15 USD. The early Discharge 7's are going $4 a piece. Nine Shocks Terror LP is ten bucks. The Detestation reissues came out last month and are going for $15 for the black vinyl. www.havocrecords.com/Prank has been trying to keep prices down as well but has been open about price increases and trying to throw in extras like pins, stickers extra. Still $15 - $20 is still reasonable. The distro items are also reasonably priced. Stock copies of the Welcome To 1984 comp are 15 bucks. If you don't have this, grab it before it's gone. Maybe the best international punk/hardcore comp ever. prankrecords.bigcartel.com/product/maximum-rock-n-roll-welcome-to-1984-lpWhat kills me is the cost of international shipping. I'm in Canada and it's about $20 USD to get a single LP shipped.

^^ I feel like you’re right on this. A lot of smaller punk labels still keep it $20 or less which is much appreciated. The biggest offender is obvs bigger smaller labels and of course metal. Black metal being the biggest offender. To be fair a lot of these releases are international and affected by overseas shipping. Some of it tho is just hype band/label bullshit. That being said, when I get a hype band release before it goes for $100 on Discogs I get somewhat aroused

havoc/desolate/blackwater are all labels with crazy cheap (normal) prices on their new records
distro prices are what they are - but i often look to the source to see if it's better
i'm not privy on Canadian distros, but Black Water is very close to the border if you're near the west coast

The records I bought are a culmination of a 5 week trip, and they were significantly cheaper in the US that if i were to buy them back here in Australia.
Some of those records were 9-15 each. Couldn't pass up on that.

Me and the wife try to drive down to Portland from Vancouver every so often and I always end up dropping a couple hundred bucks on records. Saw Tragedy/Hellsock play there too.

Last couple weeks have been off the charts and I gotta slow my fuckin' roll:
Nolla Nolla Nolla - Oodeja Simasuille Bastards - Maailma Palaa Ja Kuolee (2nd press but still) Pagans - Not Now No Way Pagans - Dead End America Chronic Sick - Reagan Bands Spike In Vain - Disease is Relative Stains (L.A.) - S/T Deprogrammer - S/T White Flag - Third Strike Out Cold - Permanent Twilight World Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere (for free, thank christ)
Also resisted the urge to buy my buddy's copy of Agent Orange - Your Mother Sucks Cocks in Hell today and am feeling fairly proud of myself over it.
