Our oldest has been sick three times in past month and a half. I assume this is what it's going to be like when he goes into daycare?

For those of you who didn't start daycare immediately, what age were your kids when they started? Ours is 16 months, and I'm thinking of doing 1 day a week once she's 18 months then increasing gradually.

Covid happened and he didn’t go back until he was nearly 2 at fill time. Our now 18 month started this January, again only 2 days a week. We’ll bump him up full time once our oldest starts kindergarten later this year. The newest member of our family (only a week old!) will probably follow suit and go part time come summer. Just a matter of shifting all these daycare costs around haha.

We were planning to do half day for a while but didn’t even need to. Started younger one at 6 mos 830-430 M-F and she did equally well.

Just a matter of shifting all these daycare costs around haha. Yea, its sooooo brutal. We pay $2,930/mo and just realized we can put the oldest in TK next year, but it only goes until 238p daily…

Both kids full time at 3 and 4 months respectively. Is there guidance against full time right away? I imagine it could be better to rip the band aid off, but I’m sure every case is different.

We are currently in the middle of a 4 month sleep regression and it has been kicking our asses. So much clinginess and fussiness that wasn’t there when he was 2 months old. Please tell me this is temporary lol

Please tell me this is temporary lol Being slightly ahead of you on this, ours just passed a few days of regression and napping like shit and being clingy and came out the other side killing it. Doing some sleep training off-body in the day time and she’s been getting so much better with it after like 5 days of it. And the last three nights have been her best sleeps ever. She was waking like 2-3x per night earlier this week but the last 3 nights she slept 12, 10, and 12 hours straight, no wakes for diapers or feeds. Insane feeling to go to sleep like I usually do around 12-1 and wake up at 7am, confused that it’s morning already and I didn’t wake up at 2 and 5

Ours basically sleep trained herself at night we never had to have her cry it out then or anything. She just started self soothing and flopping/head shaking on her own and is a rock star with it. If it’s possible that she can get herself back to sleep at night she will. Daytime was a different story and she was crying a ton but eventually working it out. We also just put three black sheets over the windows in our bedroom where she naps so it’s legit blacked out in there and that has made a big difference for daytime naps

We’ve been trying to establish a nighttime routine and try to help him wind down, the problem is he is so clingy right now that he will start sobbing when he put him down, like a total 0-60 type thing. So we don’t really know how to get him sleep trained without letting him cry it out, which my wife is vehemently against. What did y’all do for sleep training?

Damn that four month sleep regression sucked. Before that my son had started sleeping great and we were gloating about it until he was like hold my beer...

I was pretty against sleep training our first but ended up caving at around five months because something had to give. We ended up using whatever method it is that uses progressive intervals between reassurances. So, for example, first night go into to reassure them every 5 - 7 - 10 - 12 -15... minutes (capped at 15) until they fall asleep. Reassurance is basically calming words and backpats for 15-30 seconds (no picking up). Second night bump the interval back, 7 - 10 - 12 - 15... and so on. I don't recall the exact time needed, but it wasn't much more than an hour and I think by the third night it wasn't needed. It works surprisingly well and is a real eye opener for understanding how much they are already manipulating you at such an young age.

Our first was breast fed and as a consequence his sleep was kind of all over the map. Our second - I think because he was six weeks premature - never took to the breast properly and was only bottle fed. Since about six or seven months old I've been dream feeding him at 11 pm and that has ensured like 95+% nights are interruption-free. I feel like I have hacked the matrix with him.

My son sleeps in bed with us, but we usually put him to sleep and turn the camera on for a few hours before we climb in bed with him. However, in the past month, he has been refusing sleep more and more. Its frustrating cause what used to take 30m-1h is now almost a 2hr job.

My guy has hand foot and mouth. He’s had it twice before and it was not fun but this time it’s awful. He slept three hours last night and screamed most of the rest of the time.

Yesterday my daughter and her first boyfriend broke up. She was a little broken up but otherwise fine. At night though, this little shit was organizing a whatsapp group chat with 52 of his little buddies calling her on my wife's phone to harass her. So now I have to find a way to sneak estrogen into the food of 52 teenage boys. Any ideas?
