This thread is for fellow BIL parents. Share your successes and challenges. My little man is 5 months and starting to sit up and roll onto his tummy from his back. If you don’t have kids you can leave the thread now. Also if you’re Irish.

My daughter turned 13 on Saturday. On Monday she had her final therapy session and received a triple diagnosis (none I will share). Tomorrow I'm taking her to see a cardiologist.
An unfortunate combination of her friends moving away, remote schooling and Corona have had a negative effect on her mental well-being. I've blown through my work health plan for the year so I guess it's time to tighten the belt once again if she is to keep seeing someone.
The success story is that she's resilient and these disorders aren't necessarily permanent and are manageable with therapy. Or as she calls it, training her brain.

Here for tips. My little guy is two weeks old and is really good at frowning. My tips is take as many videos and pictures as you can. I was so sleep deprived the first three months that I don’t remember most of it. I look back on videos of him as a newborn and cry.

Just found out my wife is pregnant last week. Still super early. I thought I’d be freaked out but I’m actually super excited and optimistic. Tentative due date is Christmas Day lol

My kid turns 1 next week. We've been through it all. At two months she was admitted to the hospital and after multiple return visits during a pandemic, she got a liver transplant back in January and has been doing amazing ever since.
Even with all the stress and sleepless nights, being a parent is the greatest. Probably not for everyone but I absolutely love being a dad.

Also, any new or expecting parents, download the 1SE app. You post a 1-second clip for every day and it saves to a video, which you can download for each month or custom stretches. I'm about to have a full year and watching it makes me so damn happy.

My 10 year old is hard as nails. She has weathered some turbulent childhood shit. She's a great big sister and has taken the covid lockdown like a champ. My 4 year old, however, I feel has suffered from being sheltered the past year. She's become increasingly difficult and really hooked on all things electronic. My 2 year old, we were recently informed at our annual check-in, may be on the spectrum, but she's the coolest of the fucking gang. She dgaf, she digs punks, and holds a special place in my heart for her take-no shit-from-her-sisters attitude. The baby will be one soon, which is usually when they are reborn and become my children after detaching my wife's teeth. Shes awesome too, definitely the happiest baby we have.
I get down.

I'm a parent to perhaps the largest 14 month old in the US right now. 99 percentile in height and weight.

I have three kids. 9,8 and 6. They live with me. My ex lives about 2 miles away and watches them after school and two weekends a month. It probably best case scenario given the situation, but it's tough without an actual partner.

Here for tips. My little guy is two weeks old and is really good at frowning. As cliché as it is, I always found singing to my newborns worked. And a fresh diaper. And a boob. They really do have it made. Also, a few of you are yielding jah-like strength. Parenting a child with health complications is some real life super hero shit and I'm in awe of your abilities.

Not the bio dad but been raising my lil girl since day one with her mother, she’ll be 10 months soon. She’s starting to get good at walking and it’s mind blowing. She’s so fucking cool. Never thought this would be my life but it’s cool. Of course the weird ass never-around bio dad is now seeking custody bc he’s wants to control the mother. Ugh. I don’t even think he cares about the baby at all. It’s fucked

My daughter turns two on the anniversary of Quorthon’s death, so I get to eat cake and listen to Bathory all day.
I never expected babies to be intentionally funny, and love when she tries to make me laugh. She almost knows the whole alphabet and how to count to 10. She headbangs to Hellhammer and her favorite movie to watch is My Neighbor Totoro. This last year has been really tough, rough patch in the marriage, Covid, finishing my BA online while raising her while the wife works. I know myself and it’s hard for me to believe anyone can spend that much time around me and be ok. We’ll see. We have her set up for day care in the fall, but once school wraps up for me I can’t wait to take her to museums and parks. I think my favorite thing so far is when she says “hug” right before she comes to hug me.

She's become increasingly difficult and really hooked on all things electronic. This sounds like my 6 year old daughter. She agitates constantly for a “device” and is completely addicted to streaming services. I deleted Youtube and changed the device passcodes recently which seems to have helped somewhat.

I was at least 90% sure I didn’t want kids. My wife and I didn’t start trying until we were 32 and at the “now or never” stage. She got pregnant first try. Going through a pregnancy for the first time during covid was nuts, but I won’t get into that. Little man had jaundice when he was born and that was scary but it worked out fine. His first three months he was crying all the time, super gassy and clearly in so much discomfort. He started to refuse to feed and that was scary as fuck. Some days he was only sleeping 8 hours total when it should have been like 18. It took a while to determine what was wrong, but after switching to an elemental formula he’s like a new baby. Super happy and thriving now. I know every parent says this, but I love him so fucking much and I’m so glad we did this. He’s such a goofball and I can already start to see his personality. Right now he’s asleep for the night and I do this every evening, but I’m watching the videos I filmed of him today and looking at the pictures I took and I’m missing him already.

My boy turns 3 in June and I have a 5 month old girl. The only good part of lockdown has been working at home. Seeing how much he’s progressed over the last year has been incredible.
He currently thinks he’s a lumberjack and only answers to Big Jim Hickory. He pretends to chop trees down all day, it’s hysterical.

I got a daughter that’s 1,5, she’s the coolest little lady and she’s currently obsessed with Pippi Longstocking. And we are exepecting a son in august. It’s exciting and scary at the same time. Going to be intersting to se how she reacts to her baby brother. I’m guessing there’s going to be some jeaolusy issues at first. But me and my wife have talked about the importance for her to still be little, if that makes sense?

He spends most of the day lying on top of her just kissing and cuddling her. If a bird lands in the garden, he bangs the window and starts shouting ‘stay away from my sister birds’, it’s mad cute. It’s tough going to two kids, just make sure to spread your time as much as you can with a newborn. My bother fell in to the trap of spending too much time with his newborn and his daughter started playing up.

Your son protecting his baby sister from birds sounds adorable! Yeah we’ve talked about how imoprtant it is to give of our time to her aswell. She’s really clingy on my wife right now and we think it has to do with the pregancy. Luckily she’s one month away from turning 2 when the new baby is expected so she’s going to be a little bit older by then.
