Wife and kids are away for 24 hours... wat do? Blasting music, beer, and dense nuggs of fat buds obvs -- but what other shenanigans could I get up to? I’m presently on day four of this situation. Unfortunately, I’m sick as a dog, and I’m not able to do much cool shit. Live it up for me.

Four days sounds amazing, bummer about being sick. I'd probably end up using all that time to catch up on my growing movie queue.

My little girl is one as of last week, it’s the wildest shit. She’s developed such a great personality, she’s so funny, we just love the absolute hell out of her.
She also knows how to high-five now and that made my fucking year.

Our families are insisting on throwing a baby drippini so I was wondering, is there anything beyond the usual stuff you would recommend buying? I tried to start making a registry and quickly realized I have no idea what I'm doing.

I just realized I forgot babies need car seats so probably good to get some other sets of eyes on this stuff before she arrives.

I tried to start making a registry and quickly realized I have no idea what I'm doing. The Owlet smart sock was probably the best thing we had got off our registry. Our kid had a BRUE at two weeks old when she was napping so it warned us of that while it was going on and then lended a little peace of mind after. Also the 4moms mamaRoo swing was one or our most used items for the first 6 or so months. I was a little hesitant to put those pricey items up on our registry, but both ended up being group gifts.

Little guy is fifteen months today and is starting to learn some signs - knows 'more', 'all done', 'milk', and 'cat'. It's the cutest thing to have a session of peek-a-boo and get the 'more' sign because he wants to keep playing, or getting an 'all done' mid dipe-change.

My 2 year old’s first flight (Nashville to Seattle) is Saturday and I’m not looking forward to it. Thankfully the in laws will be there for backup but my ass is shook.
Also scheduling tonsil removal here soon so if anyone has suggestions other than Xanax lmk.

If you’re going to do formula at all, a baby brezza formula dispenser is a luxury I wouldn’t want to live without. We have one upstairs in the master bathroom and also in the kitchen. We even travel with it.

I don’t know what your policy on screen time is, but I’d probably be prepared to throw any restrictions out the window and let them just zone out on some paw patrol or whatever. Just took a quick 5 day trip with my almost 7 month old daughter to London. Flight home yesterday was 7 and a half hours so that was a little rough but overall she did great. Logged a lot of miles walking around and definitely held up a lot of commuters while my wife and I carried her stroller up the stairs out of the tube stations but fuck em.

Yeah the flight is in the morning so we’re hoping that snacks and the iPad keep her calm. She’s in the midst of her exploratory phase and we usually don’t make her sit still so it’s anyone’s guess how things will go.

Our trip from Lisbon to Rome and back wen't smooth (2.5 hours), but she is 4yo, still was bored during the trip, eventhough we had the tablet with some movies for her.
We are expecting another girl for December. Girlpower at home.

My 25 month old goes in the potty at school so we tried last weekend and failed and tried again this weekend and failed. We did all the things, and she would tell us she had to potty, sit on her minnie mouse toilet, get up and flush and wash her hands without going, and then pee on the floor. Out of two days she peed on the floor at least 25 times and didn’t pee in the potty a single time. Idk what we did wrong!!!

We have a potty that sits on the floor, kind of like a bed pan, so it's a bit more portable. It's also disgusting, but what isn't with young kids. Anyways, we just told him that if he told us he had to go potty and he did it successfully, then he'd get some candy. We'll have a whole other thing trying to get him on the actual toilet eventually I'm sure.

Potty training has sucked and felt very defeating so far. My daughter is just not interested in it at all and is approaching 2.5. Dry diapers every morning but just does not want to sit on her potty. Been going commando for the first hour every morning but no luck/interest. Took a dump on the bathroom floor yesterday so I’ll take that as a small victory.

My son (5) has a bad mouth at home (thx Joe) but today he learned a new phrase “suck my ass” but he can’t make the -ss sound so it’s “suck my ash”. Whatever.
Later we were at a Touch a Trunk event at the library and he took his friend’s walkie talkie and kept repeating “suck my ash” and idc so I just kept talking to my friend. Then a pissed off dad approaches me steaming and said “your son just taught my daughter to say ‘suck my ass’” and I thought, technically… it’s suck my ash and right back at ya but instead I said “oh sorry”. Ohhhh so sorry.

My daughter showed interest in the potty when she was 2yo, quickly lost interest. We tried again after she was 3yo, because in kindergarten they started going to the toilet. We started using a different type of diapers that fitted like panties, she really liked it and was really proud and started asking to go to the potty, eventually we shifted the diapers for normal panties, it worked.
