after a long time of living out of Sennheiser HD280's and some other random headphones, I finally decided to upgrade and get a pair of Drop x Sennheiser HD6XX's. I'm pairing it off of a Fiio BTR5 DAC/amp, which might as well be magic as far as I'm concerned, thing is tiny as hell, but can chuck power out and has made everything I've thrown at it sound better. it drives the HD6XX's like a dream.
I really want to get some nice speakers and shit, but I think I need to wait until I move to make it worth it.
what are you rocking?

I have a pair of SP-208 Marantz speakers with Edifier R980T powered 4" monitors hooked up to a Yamaha Natural Sound RX-V490 (I thrifted for $10) and a Audio Technica AT-LP60 turn table. Sounds pretty good and is a huge improvement over the bookshelf system I had been using the past few years.

Audio-Technica AT120xusb turntable with a Nagaoka 110 cartridge plugged into a Sansui AU-6500 amp. Speakers are Yamaha NS-A738s and little Polk R10s that are a holdover from my older, smaller Sansui 200 that I use for the receiver every one in awhile. Also have a JVC TD-V541 tape deck. I want to upgrade the Polks but not really in a rush

Bet that Sansui sounds awesome. I had a Marantz 2220 receiver that sounded glorious until capacitors started going out and I couldn't afford to fix it. Now I have a thrift store special Onkyo TX-8211 receiver, hooked up to a JVC JL-A20 turntable and Boston A60 speakers.
One day I'll snag another vintage receiver, they sound so damn good.

Same Sony receiver, but with some old Boston HD5 bookshelf speakers. I just Bluetooth my phone into it. I also have a Pioneer SX-3700 with the same Bostons that I keep in my bedroom. It sounds a lot better than the Sony, but I donβt want my kids messing with it, and obviously it doesnβt have Bluetooth.

Haha I could host a Ted talk on my amps you donβt want to get me started. But those brands, Marantz, Sansui, etc were built to last. Maybe you just need a partial recap? My wife bought me the turntable, but Iβd rather something like yours, with an auto stop and not a built in pre amp Iβll never use, but itβs still a good unit.

I was gunna upgrade to Sonos Atmos but I played my cards wrong with crypto and lost that expendable capital so Iβm still rockin a HK Aura 2 that handles all my music consumption. I have the Razer Nommo speakers but theyβre more for general content consumption on my PC. I have the Razer Kraken Ulitamate usb headphones that sound really dope, especially for live music. Still rockin my gen 1 AirPods from 2016 cuz thereβs nothing wrong with them, but the battery is draining quick these days so Iβll prolly upgrade to the pros soon.

In high school my buddy hooked up gateway computer speakers and a computer subwoofer in the backseat of his car to listen to music and I would piss my pant laughing every time I got in that car.

Do you have any SACDs? Years ago I had a player and a surround setup, and I bought a Police album on SACD. It sounded ok, but I never bought another one after that.

]Do you have any SACDs? Years ago I had a player and a surround setup, and I bought a Police album on SACD. It sounded ok, but I never bought another one after that. I have a few and they are amazing. Really wish more bands would have remixed albums in 5.1, but even the 2.0 SACDs are really good. Much better separation of the sound stage. Blu-Ray Audio has taken over for the most part so you only need a blu-ray player and they are a lot cheaper than trying to find a sold out SACD. I should buy more though. There are a bunch of Japanese imports and I've been looking at the Sabbath discs. Here's what I have...not a big list: DVD-A (all have a 5.1 mix): NIN - Downward Spiral Bjork - Vespertine The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles... The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin Metallica - Black Album Refused - Shape of Punk to Come The Beatles - Love SACD (all have a 5.1 mix except Dylan) Bjork - Medulla The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Foo Fighters - In Your Honor Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Beethoven - The Symphonies Richard Wagner - Preludes & Overatures Tchaikovsky - 1812, Romeo, etc. Blu-Ray Audio: Beck - Sea Change (Way cheaper than the SACD!) Pink Floyd - The Endless River
Damn. That rules. I wanna listen to music at your house.
