i have been a listener since it was a one man taco bell podcast but not since it was a parasitic micro podcast within another podcast
if the hardcore aspect interests you, i'd just start with the beginning of the 7" stuff or just which ever record jumps out at you. episode 17 is my favorite podcast episode ever from the scot solo days. i don't think he ever posted or with any regularity if he did, but mike did for sure because there's literally no other reason in the world i'd know who evixxion is

I don't listen to this podcast, but based on the names mentioned, I assume it's Albany based. So, semi-related, remember Beardo's always hungry, never full blog? Was short lived, but great reading, and I wish it kept going. cc: lobsterdog

hey thanks for the kind words.
yes we are originally from albany. i (mike) live in chicago now. Scot lives in saratoga. itβs cool if you dont listen to the podcast but i guarantee it is MUCH cooler to listen!
Also we are open and actually prefer requests. our criteria is kinda loose. Basically stuff between 1990-2008ish that maybe had a couple 7βs tops. ill also bend the rules if they had a full length no ine remembers and the band has an interesting story.
if you absolutely hate listening to podcasts, we have an IG ive been using to scan old flyers and also look up the addresses on these records and post/dox what the houses/apts look like today. the IG is also firstseveninchclub

I donβt know what the jist of this podcast is, but you should discus the Fury - Resurrection 7in because itβs cool and nobody ever talks about it.

OH YEAH! I should say what the podcast is about. this js the actual intro:
each episode we will dig up a 7β by a forgotten or obscure band within the realms of hardcore punk and metal and discuss whether or not theyβre worth being remembered. We also provide factoids and trivia that we glean from the internet and our own personal experiences. although we donβt personally consider ourselves know it alls or experts, MANY other people do.

I listened to the street trash episode today and it reminded me of the time I played with them.
This would have been around 2003, and we booked a show with them, knife fight and my band drop it in a gazebo in a park. It was raining and there was maybe 15 kids, but whatever. So we're all teenagers (I was 17,our drummer was 13) and street trash asks to use our drums so they don't have to carry theirs in the rain. Sure, we were stoked they were there so we let them. After one song, the snare is broken and they're just rocking the kit. We ask them to chill out and not break it, and they just tell us to fuck off and keep playing. We were real bummed and I hadn't listened to them sense. Knife fight never played because we wouldn't let them use the drums after that.

Listening to the Quest of the Moonbreed ep now, and holy shit you all hit the nail on the head that you'd NEVER know this band unless you were involved in the CT music scene between 1992-1994. Terrible band, just terrible, but I couldn't resist listening.
Also of note, I was credited (yet did not actually play) as bass on the Age of Reason 7" that your first episode featured. Very wild listening to a half hour of speculation on a group of kids I grew up with and whose band history I knew very well.
It's a cool concept, but I'd like to see more work on digging up the people involved in creating this music, or who put out the records in a time when getting a record pressed seemed very daunting. I've not been past ep 3 yet so maybe you did more of this later on? I love obscure records (especially 7"s from this era) but I want to know the actual story behind them, not just a couple of dudes speculative ideas based on a few listens.

Jason from Eating Glass (my current bandmate) was stoked to see you cover the EG 7" just as he was stoked you didn't track them down ... RE: Jose.

I am shocked and happy someone else out there knows who quest of the moon breed is! we never interview bands (though we do have a couple people from other bands on to talk about records they know nothing about!) but the show does get much better as far as format / delivery etc id say around episode 13-14. I (and i believe scot is too) am a super Dont Tap On The Glass type person and i also hate interviewing people and i would rather have critical freedom to be like βhey this blowsβ instead of having to dance around it because we have the bassist on the show who may be super sensitive about shitty music they made as a juvenile 25 years ago. I reached out to michael poorman (who you probably know!) to ask what a photo was from from the unionsuit record and he just never got back to me and i figured it out myself. i cant imagine the logistical headache of tracking these people down just to talk about some obscure record and hoping they have decent audio. We also just wanted to make this podcast as low effort as possible because thats what killed the original version of the podcast. I do recognize the βinterview band peopleβ approach would probably lead us to MUCH bigger popularity and success because i think most people are like you and really enjoy that stuff, but we arenβt that into it and iβd rather just bullshit about music once a week with my friend and be wrong sometimes than get a few hundred more listens.

That's cool. It's your show, you should be doing what you like with it. I respect that for sure. LOL about Poorman. He's the drum tech for Billie Ellish now so on tour a lot. Haven't seen him in years but we (and the rest of Age of Reason) wen't to HS together.

did you play the one AOR show i saw at the orange juvenile center where the singer stripped down to his boxers and i believe also had a blow up doll with him and was this a normal happening at AOR shows or was that one special?

LOOOLLL! That sounds familiar, and yes I think it was one of the times I played with them. Chris's wild antics were very "normal" (and certainly a little contrived) toward the end of their run. They had a very on again/off again relationship with their bass player so I would get called in last minute to scab when they had gigs booked and were pissed at him.
