While a French Press is my go to, I do like instant, as well. Currently I'm enjoying Starbucks, Cafe Bustelo & Medaglia d'Oro. Any instant coffee suggestions?

Instant coffee had a hot minute in the specialty roaster world. I know ReAnimator still does some. www.reanimatorcoffee.com/collections/instant-coffee

Thanks for the tips on instant coffee. I like to bring it backpacking on o-count of weight and convenience considerations.

I did the upside down aeropress thing for a bit, made nice coffee.
I've also done the by-the-numbers, weighing/timing pour over thing before and was actually completely blown away at how good it was. I was skeptical going in, and even afterwards when I see people talking about it I think "nah that's dumb as shit", but then I remember I've done it before and it tastes almost like a different drink.
That said, I've lived off of the shittiest coffee before and am totally fine with stale packets of sanka.

My wife got me a whole coffee set up a few years ago and I was so thankful, but it itโs all made by Fellow and I have to have their special filters for pour overs. I was just thinking Iโd make a coffee but nope, havenโt had filters in like 2 years.

My aeropress coffee has been shit lately. Iโm just so lazy to measure everything but I really need to start otherwise thereโs no point in buying expensive beans if it tastes bad

Broke my old ass chemex and never replaced it so I was making coffee in a French press, but now Iโm lazy so I got a zojirushi coffee maker and Iโve been buying bags of the See See coffee medium roast since itโs by my house. I do miss my morning ritual because I had that chemex for like 10 years but the convenience of a coffee machine is hard to beat.

My co-worker is selling me a Fellow pour over set for $100 with a bunch of extras, but idk much about the durability of Fellow products. From a quick google search it looks like its a good price, but idk still seems very high to me.
Should I pull the trigger?

Worst case scenario you get about a year's use, you can buy a new one. Sort of know what you're getting yourself into.

some fellow stuff is good (the stagg kettle + prismo aeropress attachment especially), but a lot of their products are too focused on the design and aren't very functional. i wouldn't buy used fellow pour-over droppers myself only because there you can get brand new alternatives that are significantly cheaper and better (e.g. hario, kalita, origami, etc).

Overall they have good stuff. The Ode grinders are shit although i heard they improved them. They look cool and are quiet but the burrs on mine were out of calibration out of the box, and the knocker on it doesnt work at all and the tiny ass hole that disperses the grind into the cup is minute and clogs constantly. My Oxo burr grinder has more consistency. Do fuck with the kettles. I would also second the other pour overs. I like the Kalita Wave the most because of the flat bottom and multiple holes in the bottom for a more even drip to cup ratio.

TWU. I gotta get back in the Chemex game. It's been a minute. My company loads up gift cards for us to spend at our cafe's monthly and I never use it and I have like $200 on there so I might just fuckin get a Fellow electric kettle.

Itโs not pourover tier, but itโs pretty close. Itโs also easy to clean. We got to get a better grinder, though. The cheap electric burr grinder we got makes a huge fucking mess every time and isnโt all that precise/consistent, but my handheld grinder is old and too small. Itโs like thereโs no real medium when it comes to grinders. Itโs either a cheap piece of shit or itโs $300.

I was content with my little plastic Hario grinder but got tired of them eventually breaking so I got one of these: prima-coffee.com/equipment/timemore/timemore-c2-max-timem-ppBetter in every way- faster, more consistent, a grind size selector you can actually count, great build quality. I can grind about 30g of beans at a time.

Its like $100 on amazon and works better than the Baratza or Fellow grinders ive owned.

We have a little grinder that takes forever to grind. My usual coffee spot will grind for me, so I get a back for drip and a bag of their espresso for my moka pot. My SO like French press so they use the little grinder on whole beans. Iโm pretty happy with our setup, Iโd like to get a bigger moka pot though and maybe a pour over. Whatโs a good hand grinder?
