Thank You Thank You is the best spot in Philly and now they ship beans - owned by a former 9er!
I just wish the space was a bit bigger. I felt so anxious when I was there. Guy for sure knows his coffee!

Man, who the fuck is buying $20 bags of stale coffee at the grocery store? I don't get it. I'll see Verve or Stumptown bags at grocery stores and that shit ain't even marked down. You buy like two bags of fresh coffee and maybe some filters off of the Verve website and the shipping is free, or just go to whichever decent roaster is closest to you.

Straight up. Kroger around here doesn't get Verve but the Stumptown is usually marked down to like $16 which still isn't worth it cause basically every coffee shop or local market around here carries a local roaster for the same price.

To be fair, โspecialty coffeeโ should sit for 2 weeks if not a full month

I'd rec 1-2 weeks for espresso, but all those gasses should be released and it should be alright 2-3 days after roast for other brew methods. I prefer it at least a week old though. IMO there no hard exp date on coffee. Ive forgot about a bag before and drank for 4 months old and it was still solid.

It depends on the process too. Drinking a natty or honey processed coffee 2 days off roast is gonna suck

It ain't cheap, but Common Room Roasters is a few blocks away from me and god DAMN that shit is good. I don't know shit about washing and processing and whatever, I just know that the Ethiopian Wush Wush is the truth. I'm gonna try some of their blends soon. My girlfriend and I have been grabbing a bag anytime someone's visiting us.
