Good to see him getting called out so much in this thread. Dude's drumming rules.

Came in to say that the production on this record is unreal. One of the best drum sounds of any record I can think of Yeah. The album is just totally unique for how itโs mixed and the guitar and drum effects. The guitar solo on Wilmaโs Rain.bow sounds so crunchy and unhinged and almost mimics a motorcycle engine revving at points. One of the most insane album openers. The drum-tro for I Know is soooo fucking good. Top tier best ever.

Hard for me to get into anything post-Aftertaste. You just canโt recover from losing Stanier and Bogdan.

There is a new song on Spotify (it stinks though) I figured it would. I still haven't fully listened to the previous record. Their best work since they got back together is about half of Size Matters and the split 7" with Melvins. They sort of circle back to the Amphetamine Reptile era but with more modern production. I still might go see them in Ann Arbor next month though.

The last 45 seconds or so (from the third chorus) is pretty good, the rest is embarrassing.

Kind of wish Helmet didn't reform and Hamilton kept going with the Ghandi namesake. It allowed him to "play" more and not be trapped into that Helmet sound if that makes sense. I don't know, I just hate the new stuff mostly.

Somehow that new song is even worse than anything shitty heโs done since bringing the band back, even more than Monochrome.

Thinking around meantime era Helmet was def in the movie doing a hard ass cover of Symptom of the Universe. Their cover of Lord of This World also kicks major ass.

Lord of this world:
The scene from Jerky Boys
Here's a Killing Joke cover:
Another Killing Joke cover, featuring Rob from Rest In Pieces/Straight Ahead.
They also did Gigantor and Bjork - Army of me.
Studio version of Primitive:

Another new song dropped. Don't listen to it. Listen to the Amphetamine Reptile versions of Unsung and In the Meantime instead.

Meantime is the first album I learned to play front to back on guitar as a teenager, still love the first 3 albums.
Finally saw them live like 10 years ago in Columbus, they played half old shit (ruled) and half new (obviously sucked).Page was ruthlessly shit talking the Buckeyes in between every song. Dorks were getting pissed and yelling shit at him but he wouldn't let up, it was hilarious.

a couple of okay songs, but a lot of it feels very 90's in a bad way. Shitty stop/start tempo kills me. 5 months later and still zero likes on this bullshit, hell yeah. Listening to Helmet all afternoon and it occurred to me how many times I've heard a heavy band likened to a steamroller/bulldozer whatever, but Helmet is one of the few that truly fits that description imo. Like just take the 2nd half of Ironhead god fuckin damn.
