My take is just for me. Fools are entitled to like what they like even if they really know that the entire catalog would have been a whole lot better if they just stuck to the intro and chorus of Unsung FBLA II and Turned Out are superior tracks and it's not even close. turned out riff is THE riff

Never tire of Helmet. One of my very first music purchases was Betty in the limited blue jewel case version, those bonus live tracks are great, especially dug FBLA II from that one listening to these live tracks now, great set. this shit also goes hard as fuck, would have crushed on the THPS soundtrack

Listened to Aftertaste for the first time after only ever listening to Betty and Unsung, and I loved it. Do people not like that one? I think it’s my favorite now

I think it’s my favorite now People tend to agree that it fuckin rocks. It's the albums that came after where people start differing in apinions. Like, I've seen people completely shit on size matters, but I've also seen it being mentioned as people's favorite.

Like, I've seen people completely shit on size matters, but I've also seen it being mentioned as people's favorite. I had figured Size Matters was the only post-reunion album worth listening to Size Matters is polarizing because it's that oddball only Helmet album where it's just Page Hamilton from the original lineup and none of the rest of Helmet To me it's got this unapologetic post-grunge butt rock feel when it was already not that novel to sound like that, which makes it feel a little dated. Definitely not a bad record at all but feels like a missed opportunity in some ways. I'm definitely more of a fan of Monochrome I just hear quite a lot of Foo Fighters/Queens of the Stone Age, it's different from any other Helmet album because it has zero interest in playing into Helmet's jazzy music school roots and goes full hard-rocker The best part about Size Matters is really the lyrics. I genuinely love Helmet with these seething violent hater ass lyrics. But like I'll listen to "See You Dead" and then wonder how a record with so much anger can sound like it can be about anything, when even someone who hates Elvis Costello knows exactly how angry he is in a song like this and every aspect of the songwriting has the energy to match. Like if you're gonna bring the band back purely to hate on your bitch ex against the rest of the band's wishes then go all out!!

I think if Page Hamilton didn't listen to Jimmy Iovine, Helmet would've never "reunited" and he would've just kept making songs under the Ghandi name. I love those songs and once they had that Helmet sheen on them they didn't sound as good. Oh well, still love PH though.

Yeah honestly one of the only things I know about is (other than no Bogdan/Stanier) it’s mostly about Winona Ryder. “See You Dead” was the first Helmet song I heard in middle school so I got a soft spot for it. Expecting sort of a decent hard rock record and not much else.

The song mostly about Wynona Ryder is "Moneyshot" which started as a Ghandi song and then ended up on Monochrome, which I think is they're best post reunion record
