I’ve never in my life been to an arcade where 100% of the machines are fully operational so maybe my standards are lower

To my knowledge that place only has one tech to maintain all the machines, I’m sure the guy gets backed up given the amount of machines there

Took my kids to a pinball arcade the just opened up, and it was such a great cheap way to burn a couple hours on a rainy spring break. About how much did that cost you? Was thinking about taking bf's kids but holding off bc theyre wasteful and unappreciative.

My fave was a Star Trek Next Generation game I used to play at the rec center at Rutgers.
Second favorite was the Guns N Roses one that we would play at Big Noize Rehearsal in New Brunswick
Third favorite is your grandma’s asshole

Was thinking about taking bf's kids but holding off bc theyre wasteful and unappreciative. $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 10. And it’s an all-day pass. Considering I dropped close to $100 to take the fam to the movies, it’s a fucking steal.

yeah that sounds fuckin awesome.
the place i go lately, they do tokens, and it is 30 for $20. games are 1 credit per token or 2 for 3 credits.
i'd say i do about 10-15 tokens per 2 hour or so seshes, not the worst way to waste cash.

Crazy to me that the "pinball hall of fame" regularly has busted machines. Silverball Pinball Arcade/Museum, 8 on the Break(oldest continuously operating arcade on the East coast), and multiple Yestercades locations(NJ chain of hourly charged, unlimited freeplay arcades with mostly retro game cabinets but a whole wall of pinball machines[one of which is managed by one of my best friends, so I could play there for free]) are within an hour of my house and I've never seen a pinball machine on the floor that was out of order.
I suck at the game and have never really paid too much attention, but I would be skeeved out if a place that was dedicated to only pinball had that many busted machines. I get that most places only hire one tech to work on 'em, and that it's a pretty much 100% dead trade, but I'm sure they could find at least ONE additional head to take on that job.

yeah that elvira game rocks. love those lil gargoyles.
been playing that one and party monsters frequently these days, but i still stink at both.
i've only played rush once, need to try it again asap.
it is pretty weird that there's only one rush game on location in toronto afaik.

been a pretty solid week for pinball. last weekend, played a bunch of total nuclear annihilation.
my friend traded up for one, and that game def is the "dark souls" of pinball. completely unforgiving. dope if you like synthwave.
tonight i hit up a spot on the other side of the city that has a solid lineup of newer sterns mostly. got in some foo fighters and venom, both solid choices.
been pondering what the official performance enhancing drug of pinball is?

got in a decent sesh on some sterns today, and also addams family.
the insider connected app has some potential, and i'm looking forward to some of those upcoming quests.
gotta say, the led zep game stinks. giant open playfield is some boomer throwback nonsense.
foo fighters is the best of the newer rock band games, and rush is alright too imo. maiden probably a bit better than rush.

stern announced jaws this week, which looks cool but doesn't have me too excited.
i'm convinced until gary stern dies, we're never gonna see anything non-boomer focused from stern.
like, we really need a wu tang clan pinball, not something else rehashed from the 70s.
texas chainsaw massacre from spooky looks so damn cool, but i have no idea as to when i'll have a chance to play that.

I finally made it out to the Electromagnetic Pinball Museum in Pawtucket RI a couple weeks ago. The place was crazy awesome. It’s got so much in there and totally spans the ages. Even the unplayable antique tables are cool as hell; some going back to the pre flipper era. Playable tables range from all the current favorites to the old mechanicals with those super loud bells. $10 gets you in. Free play all day. I’ll be heading back soon for sure.
Also checked out a local newish arcade that ended up having a pretty stacked Sterns corner. Foo Fighters, Dr No, Godzilla, Guns n Roses, and venom that I can remember. Got me to sign in and make an Insider o-count that I’m itching to start using. They’ve got a killer 70s Close Encounters table there that I’m dying to play but it had a jammed ball when I was there and there was no tech.

hey that sounds awesome, i can respect the history and would love to check that place out some day.
insider connected is definitely bringing people in/new interest, especially since the app version came out. it has me fiendin' to play venom.
to see your own progression, while hitting goals feels like an accomplishment to me.
ugh i got my whole weekend planned out, but trying to fit in some pinball time. first world probs.

I've yet to play a Spooky game that I like, although the Rick & Morty game looks like a cool layout
speaking of retro shit, I really want to play the Pulp Fiction machine. Hoping one lands somewhere in nyc/nj

yeah i can totally see how spooky's tables might be polarizing.
total nuclear annihilation is def a fave of mine, although it is punishing/unforgiving.
best played in a setting where you aren't dropping $1 every game, luckily my friend has one/recently got it.
ultraman is worth a try too, i dig it.
100% i'd love to play that pulp fiction ASAP, but there's only two available to publicly play in all of north america rn? both in IL.

Been making weekly trips to a local freeplay arcade for pinball and love playing regularly again (I also spend some time each trip with the OG Budweiser Tapper video game). Sterns Insider app has been a lot of fun to unlock new play and track scores, but I've still got a real soft spot for '90s tables, so spend some time with them too. One thing I'm realizing is having 10 tablets to choose from is nice for variety but my scores suffer. Something about focusing on one table for months at a time really gets you in sink with the way it plays.
Just learned about the New England Pinball League and thinking about joining next season (April) since I:ve got two league approved venues within an hour of me.

last weekend i played a 24 (the tv show) table, pretty decent for 00s stern. never seen one of those before.
insider connect is definitely getting me trying to get better at games, and it is enjoyable to hit achievements.
i watched a video of this spot called vintage flipper world/ann arbor pinball museum in ann arbor mi.
they have like, 500 different tables and many super rare ones.
thing is, they're only open 4 weekends a year. i'm trying to get out there this may hopefully.

fuck dude that is impressive. can't say i've come anywhere close to that score.
so i spoke with a guy that runs a local league yesterday, and i think i'm gonna check out a couple of their events soon.
seems like it a pretty low stakes commitment to meeting some new people and enjoying some games.

DAMN!! I’m sitting at 181,000 for a top score on Godzilla right now. That’s amazing! Played for an hour last night for the first time in over a week and I did terrible. Only good scoring game was on Foo Fighters, where I finally beat a city. T2 was down. The 70s Close Encounters table had been removed, and a new (not working yet) Elton John table was in its place. That’s a bit of a bummer.
