yesterday I go Curtis Mayfield's Superfly which is another 5/5 album for me but since I just got him the day before it was also a little lame as far as the project goes. Today I got ABC's The Lexicon of Love which I surprisingly have not delved too deeply on before even though it seems like the kinda shit i fuck with

At this point, doing this is the most consistent thing in my life I think Day 61 - Boston (s/t) 3/5 - I wanted to hate this but it's totally inoffensive and a classic for a reason. I like the vocals so much. I likely won't come back to it but I enjoyed it beginning to end. It's comfort music. Solid dadrock. I get why it's on the radio all the fucking time. Day 62 - Elvis Presley (Elvis Is Back) 3/5 - The cover of Fever and The Girl of My Best Friend are both so fucking good. This didn't sell me on becoming a big Elvis fan but I enjoyed it a lot, I listened to it twice. Probably won't come back to the whole thing through hence the 3/5 but those two songs are fucking great. I like this a lot more than the more manic high energy classics I've heard like Hound Dog which I find kind of obnoxious, ballad-y crooning Elvis is where it's at. Day 63 - The Clash (s/t) 4/5 - Can you believe I've always claimed to really like The Clash but never listened to this in full? Such a poser. It's really good but I still have more of a taste for Sandinista! and Combat Rock, I guess I just love weirdo post-punk Clash best. But this is still pretty good. The bass lines are killer too. White Riot and Hate & War and What's My Name all back to back are some of the best punk music ever written. I wish I liked it even more than I did but I guess the coolest thing about The Clash to me was always how eclectic their tastes were and I find myself missing that. Though I do love how much stripped down Clash reminds me of The Jam. Good shit! Day 64 - Ella Fitzgerald (The Gershwin Songbook) 4/5 - This is three hours and fifteen minutes long. Yes, I listened to the entire thing. More than that really, because I kept replaying tracks, so maybe like five hours worth of listening. It took me several days to get through because I enjoyed it that much. I guess there were like 7-8 tracks to me that were really standout and the rest were nice background music, but I'll definitely come back to it, mainly because it's really nice lounging/cleaning music to put on. Day 65 - The Zutons (Who Killed...... The Zutons?) 2/5 - Apple Store indie. (Derogatory.) Day 66 - Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris (Trio) 1/5 - No. Day 67 - Pet Shop Boys (Behaviour) 3/5 - Like a more Twin Peaks, more mellow Depeche Mode. I just got another Pet Shop Boys from this generator literally a week or two before this but it was a lot more kitschy than this. And this is plenty kitsch and camp too, because its still the Pet Shop Boys, but this takes itself somewhat more seriously and feels more "adult" in like an '80s corporate elevator music way. It's pretty cool but it gets monotonous. Day 68 - Sigur RĂłs (ĂgĂŠtis Byrjun) 5/5 - Oh my god, what a pleasure to get one of the best bands I've ever seen in my life and an record that completely opened up my entire world when I first heard it in middle school. I guess there are a few tiny moments where I have to give twelve year old me credit for being extremely cool. It's one of the best ambient/post-rock albums ever made. Day 69 - Joanna Newsom (Ys) 5/5 - Two 5's back to back -- this fucking rules. It's so maudlin that a lesser artist would have made this feel like it ventures into Disney girl territory but it's so fucking perfect that it never manages to toe that line. Real weird girl hours who the fuck is up!!! Day 70 - OutKast (Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) 4/5 - Almost all killer, very little filler. But there's enough skips for it to be a 4 for me. I just get annoyed by how many interludes and preludes and outros and skits older hip hop records have, and this is over two hours long so there's a lottt of that. I prefer The Love Below to Speakerboxxx it's just way weirder and also more mature and cohesive. If it was just The Love Below I'd rate this a 5, but I still just really like both. Pretty boring past five days for this. Day 71 - Neil Young (On The Beach) 3/5 - This was alright. The namesake track is good but the rest felt fairly monotonous. Pretty blues-y and cynical in this resighned man wiser beyond his years way so that's cool. I do really wonder if I'm just not a big Neil Young person or if he'll just take time to grow on me, so I'll give this one a 3 like I gave Tonight's The Night, because at least it's pretty short. Day 72 - Radiohead (Kid A) 5/5 - I am so sorry to be a clichĂ© but unfortunately every fucking bit as good as everyone says it is and more. Bury me with this record. I've loved it since I first heard it when I was 11. I will love it until the day I die. My favorite record from this so far tied with Pink Flag. I hope something I haven't heard yet beats them though, that would be really cool. Day 73 - Paul McCartney and Wings (Band on the Run) 3/5 - There's some fun tracks here. I like the first half of this record a lot. The second half feels like filler bullshit that was scrapped from a Beatles record. But it's a fun and easygoing pop record and I do think it does that well. Day 74 - Hole (Celebrity Skin) 3/5 - I really like Hole, but I wish I liked this record as much as other people do. I just wish this was more aggressive. Because it could be if it wanted to be. I think Live Through This is "my" Hole album, for that reason. I blame picking Michael Beinhorn as producer, I'm really not a fan of his sound on anything he does and I think that post-grunge sound is dated in a decidedly uncool way. But I think the band was already starting to be at the end of its rope too. I don't know. Still technically a "good" record but doesn't have any of that magic for me. Day 75 - Parliament (Mothership Connection) 3/5 - I bet this was INCREDIBLE to experience live. As it is, glad I heard it, but didn't change my life either.

Malibu is a banger for sure.
I got Spiderland today. Whoever made this list seems to think very little of American music that is even vaguely adjacent to hardcore or post-hardcore (I looked up the full list) so it's cool when there is a rare inclusion. Pretty sure Yank Crime is somewhere in this list too.

I actually have an album today that I have never heard of before: Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo
I am excited to escape into some late 90's Bossa Nova meets kitschy lounge electronica

Since last update:
Garbage - self titled: Some great '90s nostalgia. 4/5 Heaven17 - Penthouse and Pavement: Dirt-mall bootleg Depeche Mode, complete with a Dave Gahan impersonator for a singer. 1/5 Eels - Beautiful Freak: Some NOT-great '90s nostalgia. 2/5 Coldcut - What's that Noise?: Mostly beats, including their well known remix of Paid in Full. It's OK, but I prefer my beats with rhymes on top. 3/5 The Velvet Underground - self titled: More straight forward and less weirdo than their earlier work. Mostly rocked. 4/5 Prince - Sign o' The Times: Rocked... It's Prince. 4/5 The Psychedelic Furs - Talk Talk Talk: Liked this a lot more than I thought I would. 4/5 The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops: Still listening. Sort of a reminiscent of early U2. Lots of New wave influence too. Probably a 3/5

Day 77 - Everything But The Girl (Walking Wounded) 3/5 - I really love Missing and I know Wrong is on this record so I was looking forward to listening to more of their output because I was hoping it would sound like that. Unfortunately this is a bit of a bore in comparison to their biggest hits and is just watered down elevator music drum and bass... I wish it did more with the cool breathy vocals but it really doesn't. This was sadly a bit of a disappointment but I'd give another EBTG record a shot, maybe it's just this one that isn't that special. Day 78 - Joan Armatrading (s/t) 3/5 - Never heard of her prior to this. Didn't really speak to me much but was cool to be exposed to a singer-songwriter I didn't know until now. Kind of a mix between funk, soul and folk rock, pretty cool. Day 79 - Slint (Spiderland) 5/5 - Yes. Day 80 - The Who (The Who Sell Out) 2/5 - I thought I liked this record, but it's been a decade since I sat down and actually tried to listen to it beginning to end. I was wrong. It's actually gimmicky and exhausting to listen to, and just too fucking long. 23 songs? And there's five Who records on this list? Go fuck yourself.

Jean youâd probably like some of the earlier Everything But The Girl records, they werenât really doing the electronic thing prior to that one. I personally like Language of Life because itâs more like Blue Nile/Prefab Sprout but their record Love Not Money is more jangly

Day 81 - Suba (SĂŁo Paulo Confessions) 4/5 - Never heard of this before until now. This guy has a crazy backstory, he died in a studio fire trying to save the recordings for his next work with the daughter of JoĂŁo Gilberto. And I'm pretty sure quite a few bossa nova legends are on this record too. Really like this and it's a shame he died so young because I can tell he was right at the cusp of making something that would've made him a household name himself. Downtempo acid jazz bossa nova. Very, very good. Day 82 - The Temptations (Cloud Nine) 3/5 - Motown with a little bit of psychedelic flair. Nice background music, didn't really speak to me. I'm guessing there's gonna be better Temptations records on this list. Day 83 - Cheap Trick (At Budokan) 3/5 - This was ok. Also not my thing but totally fine background music. My tolerance of this despite my hatred of basically all "hard rock" is high praise in a way, so that's cool. The bassist is handsome so I will give this a 3 instead of a 2. I don't know. It's my rating system and my rules. Day 84 - Santana (Abraxas) 3/5 - Another "glad I heard it but don't feel any way about it" but I will add a note that you can tell these guys definitely fuck. Day 85 - The Doors (s/t) 4/5 - Ok I'm tired of writing reviews. Who even really gives a fuck about what I think about the Doors. Who cares. They're great. This absolutely rules.

i had to google Who Sell Out because I never heard it before and was scared at the prospect of eventually having to listen to a 23 track Who record and thankfully saw that it was something like 12 tracks and unfortunately you dug into the like Bonus Extra Reissued version that has a crazy amount of bonus tracks

Today I got Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'It's Blitz!' and damn this shit is still undeniably catchy 15 years later. This is when they dipped their toes into that indie electronic sound of the late aughts. The first half of this record bangs heavy. The one-two punch of starting the album off with Zero and going right into Heads Will Roll is undeniable. The second half of the record is good too but I do think it is stacked heavy on the top front. Easy 4/5 for myself.

I just had Live at Leeds yesterday. Originally it is a 6-song, 39 minute record, but all the latest reissues are 3+ hours long double-CD collections! I liked the Who when I was young, but lately it seems they just don't do it for me. On the other hand, they are an undeniably good live band so I was curious, just not curious enough for 3 hours. I created my own playlist of the original 6 songs and just listened to that, and its was GREAT; all classics with great live sound. I guarantee if I tried to sit through the complete reissue I'd want to kill myself

Like Jean said everyone has their own rules for the project but for me personally I only will listen to the og album/tracklist of the album proposed and wonât torture myself with a million bonus songs and outtakes. Unless of course Iâm really vibing on the album and want to explore more. But as far as my rating goes Iâll only keep it exclusively to the originally released album

Usually it's easy to tell because they'll be separated as two discs on Spotify but in this case it wasn't so guess can't rely on that đ I do make an effort to listen to all of the original records in full (luckily I enjoyed the Ella Fitzgerald box set because that was VERY LONG) but def wen't overboard on this one by accident Today I got Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'It's Blitz!' and damn this shit is still undeniably catchy 15 years later. I bought it on Discogs last week because a seller was selling it for a crazy good price, like $8 or $9. Really wish that kind of dance-punk would make a revival honestly. Dragon Queen was a track I really remember loving.

Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn today. I burned out on Pink Floyd as a kid in the 80s. And back then it was near impossible to find or hear this album so this is my first time hearing it. Pretty damn incredible and I understand now why musicians love Syd Barrett

Past week or so has been pretty good:
Motörhead - No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith: It's fucking Motörhead! 5/5 Adele - 25: Adele continues to impress me despite me thinking I would hate it. 4/5 The Who - Live at Leeds: Surprising how much I liked this. 4/5 Boston - Self Titled: Another band I hated for years but now love. 4/5 Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking: Expected to hate this because it's "folk". Turned out to be more psych to my ears. 4/5 Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn: Instantly my favorite Floyd release. 5/5 Beck - Odelay - Today's album. about to listen now. Last Beck I had was terrible (Sea Change), but this is in his sweet spot so I'm looking forward to enjoying it.
