Last episode of The Curse was kinda a disappointment for me, but then a friend read some explanations and I think I liked it more?
Anyway, I liked the new ep of True Detective well enough. I'll keep watching.

The Curse ending was wild but I've been letting it marinate for a few days and I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it. I enjoyed the show, especially Emma Stone, but it kinda felt disjointed. I'm ready for The Rehearsal S2.

Also it was crazy seeing how Rachael Ray has aged. I always thought she was so hot. She still looks good but she reminded me a bit of Roseanne Barr.

The Bear being nominated as a Comedy while Succession had about as many laughs as that show I think was a ploy to get The Bear some accolades in a year where Succession was expected to sweep. Unfortunately that meant Barry wen't without a single win.

Better Call Saul having their final season the same year as Succession also fucked BCS in the ass. I don't give a shit about no goddamn Succession.

Could never get into it. BCS got zero Emmys for the entirety of their run across every category they were ever nominated for. Thats wild.

a friend read some explanations and I think I liked it more? Care to share :) I did not like the finale but think I maybe just didn't get it? The ending to episode 9 was so good. The finale felt more like a troll job than something fitting to the prior 9 episodes.

Emmy's make no god damn sense... The Bear nominations were for season 1. I love Ebon Moss Bachrach but his emmy win should been for his season 2 journey (Forks episode) not for the season 1 arc, which is relatively small. So next year Emmy's will give The Bear a bunch more awards while season 3 is airing...

Unfortunately that meant Barry wen't without a single win. The distinction between comedy and drama is just half hour vs hour long. I’m not saying that it makes any sense, but that’s basically it. There’s no ploy.

The ones that stuck out to me were him flying away being a manifestation of a bunch of people cursing him to go away, which resulted in him flying away or there is another idea that he got reborn as the baby.
Idk how much evidence there is in the storyline to point to either, but I like the idea of Asher being reborn as a baby.

I didn’t read that but I think maybe there was no real curse until Dougie curses him in episode 9 (8?). Dougie actually believes curses are real and that he himself is cursed because of what happened to his wife. This would also explain his genuine breakdown at the end after Asher flies up into outer space. . Show was so weird and so cool

I think the point was that ALL the curses were real, the little girl's chicken curse was real and Dougie's curse was real, at the end of episode 9 Asher goes cuckoo with the whole "i'm the problem, I live to serve you my queen" speech while Whitney has a blank stare because she clearly despises him.
So in the next episode she puts on the same face of discomfort when Asher is singing to her pregnant belly. At that point she's basically wishing for Asher to go the fuck away. Since Asher said he'd do anything for Whitney in the previous episode, her wish comes true in the form of a curse and he disappears. I realized thats what was going on as it cut back and forth between Asher flying away, slowly dying and Whitney giving birth with the biggest smile on her face. She wanted it to just be her and her baby and for Asher to be out of the picture, which is what she got.
Wasn't a fan of Abshir being totally ungrateful for being gifted an entire fucking house but I get that his reaction was written that way just to take the piss out of Asher and Whitney. He was pretty sympathetic before as a poor father just trying to mind his business and not have to deal with his annoying landlords but that one scene kind of destroyed most of the sympathy I'm supposed to have for this guy.

I forget the order as well. I haven't watched them yet, but they have been doing panels at Lincoln Center for each episode. Here's a link. The one for the last episode isn't up yet, but it was filmed last week, so it will be up sooner than later. Also: I agree about Abishir and the house. That interaction was so uncomfortable and I wasn't sure what they were trying to say/do with that.

I think it was that Whitney wanted so bad to be the white savior and Abshir being totally ungrateful is the complete opposite reaction of what she wanted. It was funny to take to the wind out of her sails but they kind of ruin Abshir's character in doing so.

Its my understanding that Benny is breaking away from collaborating with his brother as a unit, so it seems in the realm of possibility

I watched some interview with Benny and he said he wanted to work with Nathan before he had met him. He had seen his work on Nathan for You and wanted to be on that show, so I could definitely see more collabs in the future. This was the interview

The Curse kicked ass. Never post in this thread and came to post about it and glad to see others are talking about it I’m not sure there has to be a specific single interpretation of why it ended like it did, I think it works fine considering several theories. But I do mostly subscribe to the rebirth/reincarnation path for Asher. There’s a ton of signs throughout the show that feed into it in retrospect, so I’m curious to see how much more is picked up in a rewatch.
- The necklace symbolizing rebirth - him constantly doing baby voice bits - his baby dick - “it’s like there’s a little me inside you” - projecting the moon/space onto her belly for the baby to see as its “sky” which it will soon be pulled into out of the womb, just as Asher was - the doula bringing Asher from the initial womb of the house to the point of full separation in the tree - the tree as umbilical cord connecting him to “mother” earth before finally being cut and pulled away - Dougie yelling at Asher in the tree to “climb to the V” - his penchant for being a sub/cuck in the relationship to Whit’s narcissism and dom personality, though both tried to suppress or hide these characteristics. Both of them finally realizing those aspects in full by Asher shedding what independence he may have had left as an adult man and becoming truly dependent on Whit, and in kind her becoming the true solo creator/controller of a life
There’s a lot more but it’s hard to remember all right this second. Great character study show and great memorable ending

Oh yeah I forgot this one bit that kind of bugged me, its inconsequential, but I was like that wouldn't happen in real life When the fire department cuts down the tree limb with Asher still holding onto it. I'm not a fireman but I'm pretty sure theres a good chance that he gets injured by that huge tree limb while he falls on the giant airbag

Either the tree would land on him or part of him would land on the tree.
Also, I didn't think of the cherry tomato baby d connection with the reincarnation, but I am loling right now.
