I also need to read LOTR again. Really had a desire to last year after I read Watership Down but I always feel like I'll start it and not finish it.
Right now is Girls Lean Back Everywhere by Edward de Grazia. He was a lawyer who primarily worked on first amendment cases and wrote this giant volume detailing the history of obscenity law being used to ban literature in the US and UK. Super interesting but I feel like his editor was sleeping on the job because he regularly nerds out about the histories of the books/authors he's covering in a way that doesn't relate to the main topic.

I'm on vacation at the beach and brought some books including a collection of Lester bang articles, some book about the heyday of Factory Records, Sharp Objects which is that book they are turning into an HBO miniseries with Amy Adams about the murder off two kids and one of chuck klosterman's newer ones that I forget what it is about but the book is all white

It's great. It might be flawed in some ways, but I'm learning a lot about biased thinking which is really practically useful and super interesting. It's also very readable. Before that I read Invitation to Cognitive Science: Thinking. It was absolutely fascinating.

That new Stephen King to read at the beach. heard positive things. We'll see. I have about 100 pages left in this. I’m still up in the air about how I feel about it so far. Definitely don’t feel it will end up as one of his “classics” but it is a good read.

Slowly making my way through the new David Lynch biography Room to Dream Dude have you read Lynch on Lynch? It's incredible. I haven't. Is that more interview style? So far this new book is like a recount of The Art Life film but with some more detail around the edges. Still pretty sweet. I bet it will open up more when it gets towards Lynch's mid and late film career, which the movie didn't really touch on.

Just finished A Scanner Darkly. My friends and I started a Sci Fi & Fantasy book club a few months ago. I love reading but I'll find any excuse not to so it's kept me motivated.

Each chapter/interview is about his life and specific projects.

I'm trying to finish Stephen King's Desperation but I've been having an awfully hard time focusing on books recently.

Breezed through Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman as it was an impulse buy at the last bookstore. It was a little childish but a fun little refresher course. I also picked up Neil Degrasse Tysons newest book and Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut.
After I rip through those I don't know what I want to read next. Suggestions?
