Finished Kim Gordon’s “Girl in a Band” it was solid for the most part. Some things she says relating to women and femininity didn’t sit well with me.
Just started Recursion by Blake Crouch. So far I’m pretty into it.

Finished Revolutionary Road today. That was a real bummer! I've become quite the Richard Yates fan since reading this. Have you read anything else by him?

Eleven Kinds of Loneliness, for sure. I read Liars In Love earlier this year which was pretty good, but not on the same level. Apparently everything else he wrote aside from the ones we've mentioned was kind of so so.

Finished As I Lay Dying. Didn't think much to it. Just started Vonnegut's Deadeye Dick, and it's already more enjoyable. He's the man.

Finished George Lucas: A Life by Brian Jay Jones. Easily my second favorite biography he's written just behind the Henson one and slightly ahead of the Dr Seuss one. Going to start Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates and if that's too heavy, i'll read True Grit

I'm reading Moby Dick and it's fuckin bad ass I finished reading Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin a couple weeks ago and it was incredible. Such a master of emotionality... Moby Dick was real cool, honestly need to read it again. Giovanni' Room was a real quick read for me. I gotta get more of his books.

I tried to read Moby Dick when I was locked up. Literally nothing to do all day but read, and still couldn’t get into it. I liked the story portions, but could have done without the text book style informational chapters about whales.

You might have to literally schedule a time for it each day. I've had to do that for my Hegel re-read otherwise there's no way I'd ever get through it.
You could also offload lighter fiction to audiobooks while you do chores, work out, commute, etc.

Read shit that isn’t boring and you’ll want to keep reading Nah, still having some trouble with that. I think part of it is that I end up reading for work, and then I don't have much interest in it. And then poor time management. I'm working on setting a schedule for reading, just gotta stick to it until it clicks. Been mostly hitting my music goals (zine is behind, but I'll have at least two EPs out this year for sure), sorta hitting fitness goals (steps back up, at least regularly doin some gym shit). Didn't figure reading goals would be the toughest.

When I wanted to get back into reading, I aimed to read ten pages a day at an absolute minimum. That became ten pages during my lunch break, and then ten pages at home in the evening. Then the momentum/regularity just increased from there. I'd really struggle with a 300+ page book in the past, still pretty shook I can get through a book of that length in a week - and more importantly - appreciate it.
Recent book pick ups:
Wine of Youth - John Fante Reflections in a Golden Eye - Carson McCullers Yellowface - Rebecca F. Kuang My Year of Rest and Relaxation - Otessa Moshfegh A Day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich - Solzhenitsyn Bright Lights, Big City - Jay McInerney
