I have a question for yall: what have you found to be the cheapest option for hauling out large quantity of trash that is leftover from a project? I feel like I am getting raked over the coals continuously going to the dump

you can get a bagster from lowes or home depot. not sure how much you need to haul. I've been putting out a few bags on trash night, and also putting bags in the school dumpster on my block.

We have a junk remover in town. I've used them a few times and love the convenience. I can just leave a pile of crap somewhere in my yard and they'll come pick it up and get rid of it.

I was going to do this a couple months ago, but legit that week I got a letter in the mail from my city, saying they were putting dumpsters throughout my neighborhood, free to use for residents. it was sick

Just got one of these things. Supposed to get the keys in 2 weeks. Itโs a 50 year old house, and weโre buying from the old ass original owner, so Iโm going to have a lot of projects.

Replaced my counter tops a few weeks ago. Not drilling through them was the most stressful thing ever.

Listed my condo last Monday, first showing we had an offer for full price, but the lady (recently divorced) pulled out and decided to live with her sister.

My next real project is cleaning up our laundry room that became a catch all for our wedding decorations since we DIY'd the hell out of everything. Wife cleaned a bit up yesterday and made herself a spot to work on crafts, but I still need to clean up my own work bench and sort some shit out.

Closed yesterday and started moving in. I created a list of 22 projects of various size to do, and I have a feeling it's going to just keep expanding.

I have to ask. How tall are the hedges?
If I remember later, I'll try to grab a shot of the front of a house on another block. The front hedges literally cover the front window and extend (at least) up to the tops of the windows on the 2nd floor.
I don't live in the "hood," but there are definitely a few lazy asses in the neighborhood that don't even feign interest in taking care of their shit. Meanwhile it's our five year plan to sell at a profit and fuck off to the Northeast.

Closed this morning on my first place. Absolutely thrilled with the house, its turnkey, but this is still absolutely terrifying.

It's barely over the property line, so sometimes it looks like we're flying it.

Because I'm bored at work:
I had to replace all of the guts of our master bathroom toilet a few weeks ago, and it was painfully easy after watching a youtube video or two. I better not hear about any of y'all hiring a plumber to do it or I'll pinch the shit out of you.

Start by X'ing out the "NO" in "No More Bullshit" and if it gets replaced, just keep taking it down and tossing it in the trash. Or wipe your ass with it if Board is truly Life.

If I could do those things and know they wouldn't call the cops (they've already called the cops on me once because they thought I was using their mailbox to distribute fentanyl) and not get kicked out of the RN program I'm in now, I would. So, for now I just have to go the legal route and cite borough regulations.

I live on a corner lot. The back hedges are just over six feet but those ones are fine. I do a good job keep them maintained. We have to keep the corner hedges under a meter(3 feet). They arn't over the required height. I measured them when I got the letter, i knew I wasnt over. Going to see the dude on friday. Going to have my clippers and measuring tape. It is just some neighbor fucking with me.

Accepted an offer 3k below asking on the condo. Iโve been shitting myself about potentially having two mortgages, but it looks like there wonโt be any overlap.

i just came here to randomly mention things i learned from owning a house: crown molding makes a room look great, but is by far my most hated project to do. i have added it to 4 or 5 rooms in my house and they never fit correctly because all of the corners of my walls are either slightly bigger or smaller than 90 degrees. i always recut pieces to make them fit better then just give up and fill the eventual 1/4" - 1/2" gap with caulk.
tile back splashes are way easier than i thought they would be to install and make kitchens look way better. toilets are incredible easy to install as well.
I also came to say that a power washer is my new favorite tool to use. i bought an electric one that sprays 2030 psi to clean dried up dirt and algae off of my siding, then decided to do the walkways around my house. it makes everything look brand new.

Me and my fiance bought our house a few years ago out of her fathers estate from her brothers for well below market value. It's a 3 bed, 1.5 bath Ranch built in 1961 with a connected one car garage with an office above it and a sunroom/porch behind it. Basement is unfinished. Hardwood floors in every non bathroom/kitchen.
It needs a decent amount of work but for how much it costs, that's to be expected.
So far I redid the full bathroom without hiring a plumber and really only having two of my uncles help with the flooring and carpentry stuff. Fenced in the backyard myself so my dogs could hangout back there whenever they want. Gutted on of the bedrooms and turned it into my office/man cave.
Next up is the Kitchen, I've done a few small things to extend it's life a little bit, but it's the original floors and cabinets and the appliances need to be updated bad, and I need new plumbing so I can have a fridge that has a water/ice dispenser, and a dedicated electrical feed for my oven, because somehow its on the same circuit as my dishwasher and some other stuff, and therefore, we can't use both at the same time. I really want to knock down the walls between the kitchen/dining room/ living room to make more space and make the kitchen bigger after the update.
I've been working on the landscaping for years, This yard was neglected for a loooong time. I've cut down a few trees and over grown bushes, laid down a shit load of grass seed, and dug out and built a garden.
It's rewarding and stressful as fuck at the same time fixing up your own house.

Trying to talk my wife into letting me buy a striper for my lawnmower. It's not saying a lot, but I have the best house on the block, and I want my lawn to reflect that shit even harder.
