the cashew cheddar slices at trader joes aren't bad. not that different from the miyokos one (maybe manufactured by?) and a lot cheaper. and yeah, I ate sooo much daiya when it came out and now it just gives me terrible gas.
and re: chicago its kinda far from where you are but healthy substance and quesadilla reina del sur are both good (healthy substance is better but miserable to get to). Chicago is kinda behind the times in vegan food imho. oh also secretly there's a kids menu at the chicago diner, order off that, everything is way cheaper and good. check out lao szechuan in china town, place rocks

Handle bar is def superior. Their relatively new smash burger is great
My favorite hamburgers are from small cheval and stop along.
Casa Yari is new and one of my fav restaurants ever

not to be a hater but every time I've been to handlebar the food has been awful. not like underwhelming, straight up gross.

currently eating vegan pizza from this place called Lanesplitters in Berkeley. it's called "spicy vegan" pizza and it rocks so hard. it's got these little meat crumbles, jalapeno, and some of the best vegan cheese. issa house-made "ricotta" that is made out of like, tofu or something. highly recommend anyone in the bay area to try this. ask for extra ricotta.

if mcdonalds doesnt make their fries vegan theres no reason for me to go there for a beyond burger when i can go literally anywhere else especially fatburger. who now has vegan banana shakes

i am sure this is a dumb question, but i've recently gone vegan and am trying to switch over some old recipes and i'm looking for a good substitute for eggs in baking cookies. any suggestions? i've heard bananas or apple sauce but have zero experience with this.
