ty bb. had the opportunity to buy a pretty nice MIA Jazz Bass and an old ESP with active pickups and a few decent pedals but don't want or need. it's always fun to be on the hunt for something though

I play a telecaster that has this crazy custom-wound bridge pickup on a push/pull pot, so that it sounds like a P90 in one position for the core, and sounds like a traditional tele in the other. The neck pickup is more like a hot strat pickup than a tele. Then it's a Bad Cat Hot Cat 50w or Cub III 40w through a 1x12 with a Scumback J75 speaker. I need to get a 4x12 again, I sold my beautiful late 70s Marshall cab earlier this year and regret it so deeply.

the guitar i use is a heavily modified Jay Turser. I got it when i was living in Prague and probably the most depressed and brought it back with me.

Can someone give me some insight before I drive up to a Guitar Center and start grilling one of the employees there? I'm going to be playing in a band that is heavily influenced by stuff like the Sisters of Mercy and I am a complete stranger to the land of guitar pedals and tones. I've only ever played in hardcore bands.
I have a 5150 which is obviously not known for its clean sound. Is getting reverby clean tones and fuzzy distortion going to be possible through that with the use of pedals? Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should pick up?

5150 cleans aren't going to be what you're looking for, but a reverb, chrous and delay could probably get you closer to where it should sound in your mind.

I'd go to guitar center or another music store to see what you like and then buy it on revereb

Just grab like a used Fender Twin/Super or such off Craigslist for not much money. The 5150 sucks at cleans. You don't need to get too wild on a platform amp if a lot of your sound is going to be coming from the pedals.

hi Bill sign0203
toxie that guitar sounds cool post a pic/more info
onefreeman, check out the EHX Holystain. that's a good starting point. once you get acquainted with the sounds you like, it'd be good to find individual pedals that make them in a way you like and can tweak. and yeah, a decent clean platform amp would be the way to go

it just looks like a typical butterscotch blonde tele. it was one of those 52 hot rods american vintage with the duncan mini humbucker in the neck. the current piqqups are wound from this dude rob in NJ he calls his stuff "cavalier piqqups". he is AWESOME with single coils. ive had stuff from a handful of the big name "boutique" whatever companies and rob will always get my money in the future for single coil pickups. mines just a regular tele then i pull up o the knob and it taps into more coils and is beefy as heck. the neck is a little too hot actually, at some point im going to have him wind me another. i think i kinda fonked it up goofing around with neodymium magnets and flipping the piqqup polarity myself.

Really dumb question here I'm sorry... is the only difference between a VTM 60 and VTM 120 just how loud those biches are?

I play out of a '92 Gibson SG, into a Peavey PA 300 head that I got for free, into a Randall jaguar cab that I bought for 75$ shipped. No one is more surprised that me that is actually sounds great and is loud as fuck.

im sure you get the same tone with the vtm 60. personally i might holdout for a 120 if i was in the market but would totally buy a 60 no problem
right now i just want a concert lead

I'm not gonna lie, I read this as Guilty Gear thread and was very sad no one was talking 2D fighters.
2013 SG standard OCD fulltone pedal Ampeg V1002/Earth 2x12 is my current setup in Filaments.

anybody running bass into guitar and bass cabs? I used to play in a noise band with a kid who ran his bass through guitar heads, can't remember what it was as this was a decade ago and he's long gone (RIP) but it sounded nasty as fuck.

My current setup is a 2001 LP Standard (with an X2 bridge pickup that I can't stand) through a Kustom Quad 100. Not ideal but it works on my limited budget.
