anybody running bass into guitar and bass cabs? Why would you want to run into a guitar cab? Seems like you would just shred the speakers

I have a friend who for years runs his guitar through both a guitar and bass cab at the same time and it sounds pretty sick. He is usually in bands with no bass guitar though so it makes sense for him.

you can run bass into guitar cabs. just set the crossover so that the bass cab is receiving most of the low end

The traynor mark 3 usually stays connected to that emperor which is 140w. The music man 130 generally stays on that janice which has two guitar speakers and two bass speakers in it. The bass speakers are 300w, the guitar speakers are 150w so they break up while the lows stay a little more clear. I've run bass through that janice in a pinch without issues. When everyone else has their shit together, I'll play through both sometimes. That case has my rickenbacker 4003 in it. I've switched around a couple pedals since this picture was taken and have been thinking about selling my organizer pedal. I've also been toying with the idea of selling that mustang, getting a 90s MIJ strat and cross my fingers I can get a little extra to throw at some more pedals.

You running guitar or bass through that? Guitar. Sounds GREAT, surprisingly. Didn’t Greg play through one of those on most of the black flag records/shows?

What do you guys like as far as pickups go? I've got an LP that someone stuck some Dimarzio X2's in and I absolutely hate them. Anyone have suggestions on a nice versatile humbucker?

my nicest guitar is the 1994 40th Anniversary USA Stratocaster that my dad bought me in high school. it's my first electric guitar and it never leaves the house.
currently using (all pretty cheap stuff):
- late 90s DeArmond Jetstar Spel that i picked up at the San Jose Guitar Center new for $85 like 17-18 years ago. DeArmond was like Guild's 'Squier' for a bit in the late 90s, this thing looks like Guild S-200 Thunderbird (gumby/melted hershey bar), but stripped down, bolt-on neck, 1 vol/1 tone. Ever since the Black Keys got popular these have had asking prices on reverb/ebay of like $300-400. - recently bought Oscar Schmidt (by Washburn) OE-20 goldtop LP copy, definitely the best $160 I ever spent on amazon.com. plays really nice, sounds ballsy. Has the same headstock inlay as Jay Turser LP knockoffs.
i think my current pedalboard, which is chock full of $20 plastic pedals, goes like: tuner - Boss GE-7 graphic equalizer - Behringer ultra octaver - Behringer ultra distortion - Boss FZ2 hyper fuzz - EHX LP1 boost - Behringer vintage delay - Behringer echo machine digi delay - Boss TR-2 tremolo - Donner pearl tremor phase shifter - Donner jet convolution flanger
Playing through my first amp, an early/mid-90s Crate VC30112 Vintage Club 30, which is probably the best thing Crate ever made.
Also have a 79 Peavey VT Classic, which is like reverse-hybrid like a Musicman (solid pre/tube power), and has a built in phase shifter that I think I read was what they used whenever you hear a phase shiftered guitar in any late 70s/early 80s outlaw country albums. It is in disrepair though, need to get it looked at.
A few months ago I got my Acoustic G120 DSP fixed. For a >$300 120W solid state amp it sounds surprisingly good. It's sitting in the basement though. Before it broke we were practicing in a giant warehouse loft space, now that we're in a tiny room it's just unmanageabley loud.

Currently running a Gibson explorer with a SD ‘59 set, mini sure screamer, 85 reissue Rat, early 70s NMV V-4, and a Jcm 800 cab loaded with g12-80s. I’m sure I’ll eventually swap the pickups on the guitar, but the previous owner put the ‘59 set and both actually sound really good no matter how I set up my rig.

Got a generic Ephiphone SG with a Bareknuckle Nailbomb bridge pickup wired into it. Run it into a Holden 100 (NZ amp company from the 70s that built from the schematics of Marshalls from that era, back when high tariffs meant getting them into the country was pricey as fuck so companies just made their own versions). Got a Boss Sd-1 paired with a little Big Muff. Get a good nasty sound for the sludge/doom stuff I play.

A year ago I had to fix my SG cause the fret board split in the side. So I put wood glue in the crack and slapped that bitch into a vice, only problems it's not quite flush!

X2N's fucking suck. Way too much output. I'd recommend Dimarzio PAFs or Seymour Duncan Antiquities. Both can do pretty much everything and I especially prefer running lower-output pickups with a high gain setup.

i pretty much hate hunbuckers and get a dude to custom wind all my single coils. i slap a Duncan jb into a lot of guitars for heavy music if I need a humbucker. I wen't through tons of overpriced boutique bullshit only to discover I’m just not a humbucker guy, and a JB is 90% of what I wanted from more expensive options if I’m doing a humby thing.

What's a good distortion pedal to color an already overdriven signal?
