Just got the mixes back on a couple songs with my band, which will be part of an EP in the near future. Planning on getting back on the road soon, at least to do some west coast/southwest stuff, but for now it's just some local LA-area shows.

I'll be recording a demo this weekend, planning to use my Hot Cat and tele for the most part, but dudeman has some other amps and things in the studio I could check out, nothing too wild though from what I saw wen we wen't to check the place out. I might try to borrow or even rent a used Les Paul or something because I don't own anything with humbuckers anymore, and having that tracked with my tele would be rad. Blending a tele with either an SG or Les Paul has always been my favorite combo. Best of both worlds.

Bored and took a photo of my setup. I'm not in bands these days so I'm down to a little combo and pedals to make fun noise with.

Started a new band recently and am debating getting the orange ob1 or the terror bass head. I had a terror bass head and a peavey t40 and I'm really regretting selling them.

I'm still not sold on Squier but I've long believed that Epiphones are great for the money.

The new Squier stuff is great. Just avoid the $99 strat pack stuff and you're good.
Kinda same deal as Epi. Epiphones are just rebranded Samick, so if you can find it cheaper as a Samick, do that.
If you're planning on doing a pick-up swap, just grab anything that plays nice unplugged

Any drummers here have a way to record themselves? I have something I want to demo, but my drum machine can't switch bpm mid-song.

If you're planning on doing a pick-up swap, just grab anything that plays nice unplugged After about 2002 Epiphone expanded to use several contractors other than Samick, so the likelihood of a current Epiphone being Samick made is only about 50/50. That being said, I still stand by Epi. I have a couple modern Indonesian made ones (a 2011 LP and a 2014 SG) and they're both great guitars.

I've definitely had a few Epi SG's and Les Pauls that equal or exceed the more expensive counterpart.

My band Sex Cauldron just recorded a demo and my board is complete now. I picked up that DD6 for $50 the other day. I had an ibanez echo shifter, which I love, but it broke.

Do you like that dimebag wah? I used to have it and can't remember much about it. I don't really like wah pedals in general but it seemed unsubtle at the time.

I mostly use it as a boost/cocked-wah kinda for solos just to cut through the mix. I also use it for "texture". I'll do some slow filter sweeping when I'm playing rhythm. I love it.

I haven't had a bad experience on Reverb yet either. It seems at least as legit as ebay and way less sketchy that craigslist or offerup or something.

I am considering selling my VHT Pittbull (in order to buy a combo, probably either an AC30 or a Super Reverb). I've got a JCM 800 2203 also, but I think that I'd be happier with something that can give me some great cleans in addition to the Marshall. The VHT is great and it's is definitely unique enough from the Marshall to justify having both, but I just don't ever run both at the same time anymore and I find myself reaching for the Marshall for most of my band stuff.

There's a new shop in my town that specializes in 'vintage' gear. It's all shit, however they just got in a 93 Gibson SG with a neck repair. I'm not a coward, I'd totally buy a guitar with a decent neck repair and the repair on this one is top notch.
They're asking $775 with a hardcase. I want to pay $600 since my buddy paid about the same for an 86 with the same repair, but they won't budge. Am I being a cheap ass?
Also the EHX op-amp muff reissue sucks.

Scored a Laney AOR Pro Tube lead 100 this week. Pretty stoked with it, play in a doom/sludge band so it can get just the tone I need when I run my Big Muff + Boss Super Overdriver pedals into it.

I don't think you're being cheap, they're just holding out for someone who only looks at the year and thinks that because it's old, it's worth that. go CL, I say.
happy for you on that score but I'd argue that if you're using the overdrive for more than a boost, or slamming it with a muff, you're not using the app to its full potential. from what I've heard those do pretty high gain on their own. ymmv though

Update: I told them I wanted to pay closer to $600, they said no. I have a 6505+ and a 5150 (block letter oOooOOo) and offered up a trade for either one since I don't need 2 of the same amp, they said no. They finally countered with $650 plus $125 for trade-in around the shop. TBH nothing in the shop is cool outside of older small Fender combos. Just seems off to me that they're throwing in the trade value. Is this a trap??
